Summary: this camera takes pictures that are outstanding. I expected the camera to be good but I did not expect it to be as good of quality of pictures as my $600.00 camera. It is great I needed a camera I could just throw into my pocket and get reasonably good pictures. I am very happy with my purchase but I should have known it was going to be good it's a Canon and I have never been disappointed in a Canon camera.

Summary: I have had the Canon A1000 IS for two weeks and have taken over 100 pictures of landscapes,grandkids etc, and I can find no fault at all with any of the pictures I have taken. The detail is extremely good, colors exceptional, It's a great camera for the cost and even surpasses my Canon EOS 35mm as far as correct exposure, color and even detail. I am very happy with my purchase and I would highly recommend it to anyone.....Bill S.

Strengths: Small size, light weight.....
Weaknesses: I don't like the quaitly of the pictures. Battery was used up rather quickly.
Summary: I own a Canon PowerShot A75 w/3.2MP and I love it. I dropped it. I purchased the A1000 IS to replace it. There is no comparison. The A1000's picture quality was so grainy. It may have just been the camera but I returned the camera and did not want to take the time or a chance to try another camera. Right now I am using my A75 with a bit focus on it and it is taking great pictures... a lot better that the A1000. I am now looking at the Canon PowerShot A590IS ...I hope that I have found my camera!
