Summary: My wife hates complicated cameras, and I enjoy customizing settings, and we wanted a new camera that could satisfy both our needs - something she can point and shoot easily, but with enough oomph for me to optimize the photo experience. It's clear why the PowerShot series is so popular - they take good pictures with a minimum of fuss. The unique thing about the 2000 IS is the mode selector dial on the top of the unit - everything from a goof-proof point and click "Easy Mode", to the normal "Auto Mode", Movie Mode, Custom Program Mode, and a variety of specialized Scene modes - Portrait, Landscapes, Indoor, Night. You really can adapt the complexity of this camera to suit any user! The camera has a powerful 6X optical zoom, and a 24x digital zoom. Battery use is quite frugal - I have not had to change batteries in the 2 months I have owned the unit. It is very easy to sync photos to any computer using the included mini-USB cable.

Weaknesses: a little heavier than expected but still small enough to fit in my pocket when necessary.
Summary: I was looking to upgrade to a higher pixel camera but was on a budget. I love this camera after one week of use. I suggest buying a high capacity memory card because you will want to take lots of pictures.
