Strengths: Display is huge! Pictures are crisp and clear. This camera is sexy and I get compliments on it wherever I take it. Simply takes better pictures than the NIKON cameras I have owned.
Weaknesses: This camera is a little heavy in terms of weight but it has so much punch in it's picture clarity it makes up for the beefiness of this camera.
Summary: I would only recommend THIS camera to any of my friends or family. I will only stick with CANON cameras because of the price, reliability and quality of photos. It's the easiest point and shoot camera I'ver ever owned. Also, I think Nikkon's are overrated because I own two and need to Craig's list them because I think they are junk compared to this one. HANDS DOWN CANON MAKES THE BEST CAMERAS!!

Strengths: 10x zoom on a pocket-sized camera. Photo sharpness.Seems durable and solid.
Weaknesses: Could not find in silver, but I can live with black.....
Summary: This camera replaced my SD500 that was getting outdated. The ONLY thing I did not like with the SD500 is that there was no zoom. I used to be a big slr fan, until I got used to putting a camera in my pocket, and forgetting I even had it. When you have an slr, it's like toting around a suitcase, compared to these smaller camera's. Slr's are great, but try to take them skiing/ hiking/ biking etc... I have shown people some 13 x 19 enlargements, and they could not believe they were from a "Pocket Camera". Very impressive picture quality with the I.S. on the zoom. The 10x optical is like using a 300mm+ SLR lens that fits in your pocket!! I also like the canon software for editing/storing the pics. I've only used it for a week, but so far, very impressed.

Strengths: Everything except for one thing.
Weaknesses: Purple Fringing.
Summary: Excellent manual controls, good quality lens, blah blah blah.. until you actually take a high contrast picture, especially in a zoom. Look at the straight edges of an object blocking the light. Purple fringes. The most ugly fringes I've ever seen even in DCs that are half the price. What were they thinking? The bright side is that I didn't feel it's cheapo price was much of a loss, cos there's no way I can morally sell, exchange or even give away this piece if junk to anyone, even to a stranger, the guilt would plague me.

Strengths: Great zoom, faster Digic III Processor, plenty of megapixels, outstanding colors. Good enough aperture value range, great shutter speed range.
Weaknesses: Although there is a descent variety of scene settings, I would have liked to see a "museum" setting, but that can be fixed with other adjustments. Also, no viewfinder.
Summary: So far, the pictures I have taken look great. The only things that could potentially come across as "bothersome" might be that the flash needs to be manually opened, and also that the LCD screen makes the pictures look almost a bit grainy while being taken - but after the photo is taken, it looks amazing.Honestly, this camera is wonderful. It is exactly what I was looking for: a top-of-the-line, "professional" point-and-shoot. It seems to be the border between point-and-shoots and digital SLRs.

Strengths: 10X Zoom, Lots of mode and scene selection choices, Large display
Weaknesses: No viewfinder, Alkaline batteries don't last very long, No screen protector film, Price was more than expected to move up from previous Canon
Summary: This replaced a Canon A550 that I had taken over 3000 pictures with. The Zoom with IS is great! The 3" display is really outstanding. Many choices of modes and scenes provides for almost every reasonable situation, ie Fireworks, Foliage, etc. With an Extreme III card, camera is really fast. Weight is reasonable. Nice Black color.

Strengths: Ultra Zoom (10x), compact, manual controls, large LCD screen, uses AA batteries
Weaknesses: Zooming in, in macro mode gives blurry image, iso cannot be selected in auto mode
Summary: Was looking for a camera that had good zoom, but wasnt too big. Well this camera, has a 10X zoom in a relatively compact body. Only other camera to match the compactness with the zoom is the panasonic TZ4. This camera takes nice pictures, very nice saturated and bright colors. The camera also has a number of scene modes and also allows for manual control. Allows you to go all the way up to ISO 1600, but the images get very very blurry. The camera has an AF assist lamp for low light focusing. The body feels good, although plastic, the camera is heavy and strong enough. Has optical image stabilisation, large LCD screen that gives a really good perspective during taking pictures. Some of the problems I encountered were that in the macro and sometimes in the normal mode, while zooming in the images become blurry. You can see the camera fine tuning the zoom and does manage to focus it for a moment, but does not lock onto it and the image goes out of focus again. ANother issue, is that in auto or even some of the scene modes the camera automatically choses the ISO (generally above 200). The images can get a little blurred at high ISOs. The camera does not allow you to set the ISO for the auot and the scene modes.
