Strengths: Large bright display screen, and its plethora of features.

Weaknesses: The Manual it comes with is basic,but it does come with a more comprehensive manual on disc which I would like in hard copy.

Summary: This camere is loaded with features, among them are its ability to shoot pictures in black white, super macro zoom, crop and rotate pictures in camera and these are what they don't tell you about in its feature list. I would recommend this camera to everyone... I just received this camera for my birthday and am still playing with it.

Strengths: Great zoom,fells good in hand,easy to use, great features and settings very clear.

Weaknesses: not able to zoom in movie mode

Summary: I am well pleased with this camera its well layed out and looks great I have some friends that have ture SLR camera's which is what I was wanting but when I saw this one read the overview I got this one and am glad I did if you want a great camera that takes awesome photos this cam is for you and at the price a steel.

Strengths: Uses 4 AA batteries, rechargable NiMH or Lithium Ion types are fine. Does NOT need an exp hi-speed card...a 1 to 4 GB SD card works fine. Takes great, clear pictures. Logical placement of buttons.

Weaknesses: Megazooms are heavier than pocket sized caameras. Only uses jpeg format.

Summary: A long zoom is what's been missing from my previous camera, and now I have that option for long-range and panorama shots. Shots with low light or the built-in flash require a little patience, but normal light indoors and out creates great shots from this camera. It feels good in the hand, and nothing about the buttons is confusing. The S1000fd allows apeture-and shutter-preferred shooting, as well as a range of lighting options. One can also just set the camera to AUTO and get the best shot at the moment. I think it is a great camera choice!

Strengths: Zoom, quality of construction, picture quality, macro zoom, ease of use, and face detection.

Weaknesses: Slow shots at times. The thing takes time to zoom and think. I like rapid shots sometimes. I havent played with it much to see what the options are.

Summary: Love the camera overall. Great zoom, big display screen, eye hole for bright days when you cant see the screen, takes great clear pictures. I hated my old camera! It's totally worth it.
