Strengths: 7x Optical zoom allows you to get in close -- is a great improvement over my previous camera's 3x zoom.Picture quality is fantastic.LCD Display is beautiful.
Weaknesses: Battery does not charge off of the USB cable - must take out battery and charge in provided charger.Difficult to see LCD display in bright sunlight -- no optical viewfinder -- LCD only.
Summary: A wonderful replacement for my old Canon 3x camera. Small, easy to put in shirt pocket or pants pocket. It does take a while to learn the layout and function of a new camera, but this one is worth it. Great pictures. Simply add an inexpensive micro-SD memory card (you can get a 4GB card for $12) and you can take pictures all day.

Strengths: Incredible fast 1 sec. start time , large screen, easy use of buttons for one handed operation. Ability to lower or increase the megapixels for each photo. 7x optical zoom. The Panorama function.
Weaknesses: Menu is not always the easiest to navigate. According to the manuel, the digital zoom doesn't work when the camera is setup for the "fine" picture quality. Owners Manuel isn't always easy to follow.
Summary: I bought this camera for my wife as a replacement for our Olympus FE-190, which finally gave out after numerous drops and water hazards due to my clumsy hands. It was purchased from Circuit City's website for $239.99 and took the free shipping offer. What we noticed first was the size of the camera is about the same as the FE-190 but is about 20% heavier although in a good way. The start up time for the Olympus 1010 is truly amazing, it takes about 1 to 2 seconds and it's ready to shoot photos. Our FE-190 would take about 15 to 20 seconds which would cause us to loose the chance to get those "did you just see that?" pictures. Besides the start time, we were truly impressed with the quality of the pictures it takes. The detail from going from a 6 megapixel camera to a 10.1 megapixel camera is outstanding. There is so much more clarity and definition in the photos then in our lower megapixel camera. -A unique feature of the Olympus Stylus 1010 is that you can adjust the megapixels from the highest of 10.1 down to as low as VGA depending on your needs for the picture size (the adjustment sizes are 10m, 5m, 3m, 2m, 1m, 16:9 and VGA). With this camera you are also able to adjust the ISO rating from 80 up to 1600 as well as to set the ISO rating to auto and H.Auto, although the owner's manual states that H.Auto and the higher ISO settings may not always take the best photos due to noise pickup. We have our ISO setting at H.Auto and haven't had problems with the clarity of our photos. -There is a very good panorama feature that allows you to take multiple pictures where the camera will automatically combine them together into a seamless panoramic picture. In order to use this feature, you must use an Olympus xD M memory card.-Our only gripes about the camera have to due with the battery which we wish were the same battery from our Olympus FE-190 so that we would have extra batteries. The Owner's Manuel is always the easiest to understand. I've read it multiple times and still don't have the greatest grasp of the camera's features. And finally that the camera's menu isn't always easy to navigate, but I think that wont be an issue when we've used the camera for more than a few weeks, so in reality, we haven't found anything major wrong with the camera. We are incredibly happy with it and are enjoying our experience with it!

Strengths: Lightweight, easy to use, compact with a lot of features found in more expensive cameras
Weaknesses: Display sometimes hard to see if the sun is shining on it from behind you. No viewfinder.
Summary: This camera does all that it is advertised to do. The menu is easy to understand, however, you must read reread the instructions which are sometimes hard to understand. The set up instructions were easy and I was taking excellent pictures within an hour after taking it out of the box. For never having used a digital camera before, I was an instant "expert." Great camera. I would recommend my friends to purchase this camera
