Strengths: Great picture quality!Compact design!

Weaknesses: Require Memory Stick Pro Duo Card, which is quite expensive

Summary: This is not a expensive camera, but it does a great job for everyday use. SONY design is still classically compact, and there is not much change compared with its previous model of S series. The picture quality is quite satisfied with 7.2MP pixel resolution. The only problem is that it requires Memory Stick pro duo card like all SONY cameras do, which is quite expensive compared with SD card.

Strengths: Build quality, size of lcd, AA batteries

Weaknesses: Picture quality is not great

Summary: I've owned a comparable canon and was much more impressed with the picture quality of that (and it was only 6 megapixel) than this sony. Price of this camera was much cheaper so I guess you get what you pay for. The camera does feel solidly built, has a large lcd, and uses AA batteries, all pluses to me.The zoom feature works well, the picture quality does not suffer to much with the optical zoom, unlike with my Canon.

Strengths: high megapixels, easy turn dial settings

Weaknesses: batteries do not last long, no viewfinder

Summary: Even though this was a low-end priced camera, I thought it would still have the Sony quality. I was wrong. Oftentimes the camera does not even turn on, and I have to press the On button several times before it cooperates. The batteries last about 40 pictures. This is not a user-friendly camera. What put me over the edge with this camera was when it froze when I was playing back pictures. When it finally did respond again, 5 or so pictures had been mysteriously deleted.DO NOT BUY this camera. It's not worth the constant headache it will cause.

Strengths: 7MP, 3x optical zoom, AA battery

Weaknesses: This camera uses memory sticks that are typically more expensive than other memory cards

Summary: For starters, this DSC-S730 is suitable. Picture quality is acceptable. Easy to operate. Good thing is the camera take AA batteries. Entry-level camera at low price.

Strengths: Small - High Resolution - Low Cost

Weaknesses: Clunky Button Operation - Sony Duo Memory

Summary: I already own a nice digital camera, so I was not in the market for a new camera. I saw this thing advertise for right around $100 and could not pass it up. Its slim design is nice when you want to just slip it in your pocket. The battery life is good, but I always use top of the line rechargeable batteries so I don't know how long it would last with regular batteries. The button operation feels a little clunky, not smooth like the other more expensive cameras that I've owned. I have not really tried all the other picture modes this camera has, but the automatic setting works great. Clear blur free pictures every time. One thing that I hate about Sony cameras in general is that they take Sony duo memory sticks which are more expensive and harder to find that sd memory. Happy picture taking!

Strengths: Price, quality (for the price), nice design, fast load time after shots, nice lcd, AA batteries

Weaknesses: Although the camera has good quality for the price, it doesn't have as good quality as the Carl Zeiss lens of some of the higher priced Sony cameras

Summary: Overall, this is a very good camera for the price. This is one of Sony's lowest priced cameras on the market (if not the lowest). For the price, you get very good quality pictures compared to the other brands available in the same price range. The quality of the camera is good too. The design is nice, and the screen is nice as well. Overall, I think Sony makes excellent products. However, Sony products are known to be pricey. You get what you pay for. For this model, Sony decided to gear towards the lower budget crowd, but still keep a very nice quality product. I am used to the mid range Sony W model cameras which offer the Carl Zeiss lens. If you can afford it, I would recommend that. They are at least double the price of this model, but well worth it. The details in the pictures are amazing. I myself would not buy this model again only because I would rather pay the money for the Carl Zeiss lens. However, if you are on a budget, this makes an excellent camera!

Strengths: price, picture quality, handeling

Weaknesses: takes memory stick rather than SD cards which are cheaper

Summary: For the price, this is a very good camera from sony. It is not a pocket camera but small enough. Takes good picture. My main complain is that it uses memory stick flash cards rather than SD which is much more affordable.

Strengths: Affordable and easy-to-use digital camera, seems perfect for beginners, Use AA battery

Weaknesses: New features like Face detection technology, steady shot missing. But for me this is a nice camera.

Summary: THis a a nice compact camera for begineers. It provides an audible visual alert when the still picture is in focus. It records movies too not like camcoder but still good. It uses two AA batteries (reg. or rechargeable), A nice friendly camera to use.

Strengths: Easy to use functions, clearly labeled. Takes good pics for a cheap entry level camera. 3X Optical zoom, AA batteries - good and bad. At least easy to find batteries when you run dead. Compact.

Weaknesses: No frills, no high end features like face detection, Sony SteadyShot(TM). No main rechargeable - but also uses AA so easy to find power. MemoryStick - but it's Sony.

Summary: Perfect for non-geeks and 1st time digital camera users. It makes functions very simple to use, built-in flash and small for users to keep in a pocket or purse. Great LCD, easy to control camera and manipulate functions. Missing to really great features in new cameras like face detection and SteadyShot, but not a shabby purchase.

Strengths: Sturdy camera body, user-friendly features, several pre-set scene modes, uses AA batteries

Weaknesses: larger and heavier than ultra-slim cameras, no face or smile detection, no steady-shot

Summary: I think that this is a good beginner digital camera and it does take decent pictures. For the money it is a good camera. However, if you can spend a little bit more there are Sony models with Staedy-Shot, face/smile detection.
