Strengths: high zoom, good flash, colors are good, good for pictures outdoor , good battery life if using high capacity rechargable Ni-MH , solid neck strap, good options and good video quality
Weaknesses: picture quality indoor under Auto mode is too bad, any ISO more than 400 is noise, used manual mode and flash to shoot indoor, and price dropped since i bought it like 2 months ago 23$
Summary: i would have gone with the higher pixels edition the S8100fd or any equivalent kodak as i saw the quality of kodak cams is better in this field, anyway if u know more and u r not beginner, just get a

Strengths: Great camera for the price. Lots of features.
Weaknesses: Be careful when attaching the neck strap. Mine came off and fell on the concrete. Fortunately nothing broke. You have to make extra sure that it won't just slip off.
Summary: I bought this camera because I like to have an eye-level viewfinder that I can look through. I don't like having just a screen on the back.

Weaknesses: pics in low light
Summary: I am a Fuji fan but, I was not impressed with its performance. If you have a S6000, you will be frustrated. If you have a S5200, you will need to think about the trade-offs since the older one has bet

Strengths: GREAT outdoors pictures (portraits, nature, etc.), fast pictures outdoors, non-blurry pics outdoors, nice dSLR-like body, screen easily visible in sun (even when on lowest brightness)
Weaknesses: Poor indoor pictures, blurry indoor pictures, no way to view pictures without lens coming out and taking lens cover off, strap isn't very well-made (doesn't stay on camera)
Summary: This is a great outdoors camera. If you want to take great pictures of people outside, this is your camera. It takes great portrait pictures outdoors. It takes GREAT super macro shots of flowers and other nature. The super macro shots are really astonashing. The level of detail is extreme. It's easy to view the screen in the sun, even on it's lowest brightness. The dSLR body is nice for people with big hands or who like the feel of a dSLR.Now, when it comes to inside...the pictures are blurry (even when on dual-stabilization). I couldn't take a clear picture of my niece (3 1/2 years old), my nephews (2 years old), or any of my dogs indoors. They were all blurry, even with flash. It takes fairly quick pictures indoors, but for some reason they are all blurry (and I've played around with the settings). And the white balance inside is not true-to-life, and changing the white balance settings doesn't seem to help. The strap won't stay attached to the camera very long, which is getting kinda annoying. And there is no way to just view your pictures without having the camera come on, the lens come out, and the lens cover have to come off, and that gets a little annoying. If you are going to predominantly take pictures indoors then consider another camera, or consider buying a more inexpensive Sony point-and-shoot camera for your indoor pictures. (my fiance' has a nice Sony T-70 point-and-shoot that was inexpensive and takes great quick (and non-blurry) indoor pictures) But if you love taking pictures of nature or people outdoors, then this is your camera, because it is great.

Strengths: 18X Optical Zoom, Stabalization x2, Color Balance, Grip for smaller hands, Just a great all around camera for the price with alot of bells and whistles
Weaknesses: Cable door is very flimsy
Summary: I can't believe how great this camrea is for the price. I spent a lot time researching cameras on line and in the store before making a purchase. There are so many great features with this camera. I have had this camera for only a week but the pictures I have taken with it are beyond belief compared to my old didital camrea. The close ups show every detail and the zoom really brings the subject into to you. The color is amazing!! I would suggest to anyone who is looking for a camera like this to buy the Fuji. I am glad I did. And I am glad I went for the Fuji with the 18x optical zoom! You won't be sorry. Espically with the dual stabalization!

Strengths: Easy to use. Great photos. Lots of great features for the price.
Weaknesses: Lens cap falls off too easily.
Summary: This is my first digital camera. I did a lot of research and decided on the FinePix S8000fd. It offered the most features for the price and had excellent reviews from most users. I wasn't disappointed. The camera is lightweight, comfortable to hold, and easy to set up and use. It has the zoom requirement (greater than 10x) and the pixel resolution (8.0 megapixel) I wanted and so many other great features (Image Stabilization, Face Detection, Red Eye Reduction, Dual Shot Mode), and the photos are terrific. I used it recently at a family gathering and captured so many great shots. I've made so many prints for relatives I've had to reorder ink for my printer. I would highly recommend this camera for amateur photographers like myself.

Strengths: Image stabilization,if only all their cameras had it but they got it right with this one. Menu is easy to use. 18x zoom!!! Takes SD
Weaknesses: Just being picky but the lens cover is kind of cheap and the battery door, well, take your time when closing it. It is flimsy. And a plastic tripod mount, come on fuji, how much is a metal one?
Summary: I have owned a Fuji digital camera before and was impressed with the ease and wonderful shots it produced. Went to another brand and was not impressed. Decided to upgrade to a model like the S8000fd and after much reading, comparing(the Canon S5 IS and Olympia SP-550), etc, the S8000fd won out. Dollar for dollar, IMO, this is the best camera out there in it's class. There's a reason Fujifilm is big in the camera world in Asia compared to here, they make an outstanding product, including a lens that's second to none. I won't say buy it, test some other models but I will highly recommend it.

Strengths: 18x Optical Zoom, wide angle, Dual Image Stabilization, uses AA batteries, uses SD, xD and SDHC cards, face detection, automatic in-camera red eye removal and great price
Weaknesses: A little bulky, only 8MP
Summary: Very well made camera. Takes very good pictures. Image stabilization works well. 18x zoom and Wide angle a plus--more room to squeeze more people in the picture. Uses AA batteries but I would recommend rechargeables instead of disposables. I bought it at buy.com for $337.99 with free shipping but is now $333.99 with free shipping at the same site (on 10/13/07) so definitely a good buy considering all the features you get with this camera. No red eyes so far--automatic red eye removal works. This is all the camera I'll ever need. Highly recommended.

Weaknesses: None except if your going to use the USB port socket (Door very flimsy) put memory cards in computer's lot if you have one.
Summary: I couldn't ask more in a camera, seen less features on a camera costing twice as much.Get one before they sell out during the Christmas shopping season.Pics shown is the zoom shown at different focal lengths.
