Strengths: No moving parts! High quality video

Weaknesses: No viewfinder, powerful computer needed to process video

Summary: I have been using this for a couple weeks now just getting used to the cam before we leave for our Hawaii trip. The cam is very easy to use and the video that has come out of it has been great. I purchased two Transcend class 6 16GB SDHC cards to go along with it, as well as a spare high capacity battery. The camera has been great to use and the idea of no moving parts like a hard drive or tape drive to break made me lean toward this camera. The only con I could see is the lack of a traditional viewfinder when shooting outside on a sunny day when the LCD could get washed out. Also, if you plan to manipulate the video with your computer to produce DVD's make sure you computer is up to date, as AVCHD video takes a lot of processing power to work with. I am running an Intel core 2 duo 2.66Ghz processor and I am looking at upgrading to a quad for just this reason.

Strengths: The size is smal and it fits in your hand like a glove . The picture quality is stunning .

Weaknesses: I have not found any

Summary: This is so fun to operate in full auto mode all you do is to open the screen and start shooting . Everyone wants to see it and can't beleive the small size . when they see the play back on the small screen they all want to buy one . I have used it in low light and i am impressed . Canon waited until they got it rite . Buy the BP-819 Battery so you never miss a chance to get the stunning vido that you want .

Strengths: Excellent video quality; size

Weaknesses: difficult to keep still because it's so small; ACVHD is difficult to work with

Summary: The Canon HF-10 is small but not too small. I was considering the Sony HDR-TG1 but I went to the Sony store and the video quality was terrible. In addition the memory sticks are so so expensive. The HF-10 is a quality video equipement; well made and solid. It records onto an internal 16GB "hard drive" which is about 2 hours of the highest quality video format. Optional SDHC cards are cheap and provide an easy back up. The video quality is just amazing. I shot some video and played from the camera on a Sony Bravia XBR4 and was blown away by the detail. The only down side really is the ACVHD format that took about 90 min to record 2 GB onto a DVD from my Dell Duo Core 2x2.13Ghz computer!

Strengths: Small Size, Light Weight, Smooth Design, Good Marketing Support in pre sale.

Weaknesses: The (optional) HTC-100 HDMI Cable is very expensive price for a little wire, perhaps if Canon included in the total price, the price of this wire go down.

Summary: I buy this Camcorder because they have wonderfull low price Vs HD Video Quality with 16Gb inside. Becarfull with some company like "FotoSpirit" they have less price on the market but is a "bait and switch" they do this type of cheap up sell tactic. To sell a Expensive Package with Optional.

Strengths: HD resolution with flash memory, which means no need for tapes, mini-DVD's or bulky hard drives. The result is a slim and light camcorder that takes great video.

Weaknesses: The small size can take some time to get used to -- particulary if you have large hands. Video takes a long time to download to my computer, though that can be solved by increasing processing power.

Summary: As my last camcorder (JVC MiniDV format) started dying, the sound of its motor could be heard annoyingly on the video recording. I don't expect this issue with the Canon because of its flash-based system. That also means that the camcorder is extremely small and lightweight. If you have an HDTV set-up, then at some point you will be upgrading your camcorder. No better time than the present as prices are starting to come down. I have had good experience with my Canon digital camera, so I decided to buy this camcorder over the Sony HDR-CX7, the other one that I looked at. One thing to consider is whether the HF100 might be a better deal -- it is the same camcorder as the HF10 but without the 16GB built-in flash. Depends on the cost of a 16GB SD card, though for me the convenience of built-in memory won the day.

Strengths: Compact, great HD quality, intuitive menus

Weaknesses: Hard to edit AVCHD recording format

Summary: I bought this HD camera for a recent trip. The quality is great and it's extremely compact. The built-in 16gb recorded ~2 hours of video plus it has room for additional sdhc cards. The only downside is that editing the video requires a lot of processing power as the video is recorded in the AVCHD format

Strengths: Flash drive and SD recording. Easily switch where you want to record.

Weaknesses: Needs a powerful computer to view/edit movies on a PC. I was able to view some video, but it was choppy. Pictures during recording are only 1920 x 1080

Summary: This is my first camcorder and it appears to be a great camera. Features are a little tricky, but not that much different than my nikon coolpix digital camera. At first it seemed overwhelming, but after an hour of reading the manual, recording on the flash drive and SD card, and playing it back on my TV, I got the hang of it. I am able to view it with the included composite cable or through the USB on my playstation 3.

Strengths: Small and compact design, AF is pretty quick, Hand controls are well placed, Easy computer transfer, Pretty good low light capturing.

Weaknesses: LED Lamp is not good enough, Playback stutters on Pixela Player on slower computers, Slightly grainy video in low light, Purple line at bottom of screen in pixela player.

Summary: This might be the best consumer AVCHD camcorder out there right now. It is small and compact, about the size of a coke can. It uses flashed based memory so transferring to a pc is easy and fast. I haven't used the SDHC memory cards on it, so I am not sure how it saves to it. For example, does it save on the SDHC card when the built in flash is full

Strengths: Size, picture quality, ease of use, battery life.

Weaknesses: Size(takes some getting used to, it is so small), no viewfinder, software package that comes with it is weak.

Summary: I bought this to replace my aging Samsung MiniDV camera and the differences are staggering. The clarity (obviously) is head and shoulders above the old camera. No viewfinder makes it difficult to see in bright light, but that is a small drawback. The battery life is great as there are no moving parts to draw power. This is my first HD camera and I am glad I made this choice!

Strengths: Nice camera for the money. Video looks great! I think the indoor performance is very adequate.

Weaknesses: To charge the battery it nees to be plugged into the camera and the camera plugged into the wall. No seperate battery charger. Battery that comes with camera only lasts a little over an hour.

Summary: I have had the camera for 2 weeks. First I want to say that I'm an average user when it come to shooting video, I'm not an expert in filming. With that being said, here's my thoughts. Nice camera for the money. Video looks great! I think the indoor performance is very adequate. Don't care for the fact that you have to plug in the camera to an electrical outlet in order to transfer video from camera to computer. Also, to charge the battery it nees to be plugged into the camera and the camera plugged into the wall. No seperate battery charger. Battery that comes with camera only lasts a little over an hour, you'll want to buy an extended battery (which obviously won't sit "flush" with the camcorder, but it doesn't stick out too far and costs around $115). I haven't tried taking a still photo since I have a good digital SLR. I bought a video camera for video and not photos. Quick start mode is great! Overall I think it's worth the money I paid for it. Would recommend to my friends.

Strengths: Very good quality video, small and light weight can hold on one hand, support multi-language menu and an external large SDHC memory card.

Weaknesses: None up to now.

Summary: The camera can run about 90 minutes on a full charged battery. I need a backup battery for a long time shot and an external large size SDHC memory (32GB) is need for backup.

Strengths: Small and compact, lightweight, HD, interal storage, SD storage

Weaknesses: Stock battery won't last long enough to fill up internal storage capacity, have to charge battery in the camera.

Summary: This is my first camcorder. We have a baby on the way so I thought it was time to get one. After reading all the professional reviews online, I came to the conclusion that this was the best consumer level HD camcorder to be had. I am very impressed with the picture quality, as well as the camera functions. I plan to purchase the higher capacity battery and an external battery charger. The included movie software can be taxing on lesser computer systems. Fast SD cards can be had on the cheap if you keep your eyes on the deal forums.

Strengths: Hi definition video quality, easy to use, flash memory, fast transfer of video, easily expandable

Weaknesses: Not much vertical space

Summary: This is an excellent flash memory based camcorder. Amazing video quality and very easy to operate. It's flash memory based and it's very easy to expand the memory by adding SDHC cards. Video transfer is as easy as drag and drop in Windows. The only weakness is it doesn't give much vertical space due to it's widerscreen aspect ratio. Overall, would highly recommend this camcorder to anyone.
