Summary: I have had many cameras and camcorders over the years. This unit is the top shelf. It looks great, feels great and even better it works great. I have tried some tough to focus conditions and it has performed extremely well. I plan on taking it to Lake Louise next week and Australia later this year, I don't think I will be disappointed.

Summary: Pro's- Awesome video quality- Looks beautiful- Light weight and compact (Fit in my pant pocket easily)- Decent Battery Life- Works perfectly with Mac iLife 08 (Although iLife gave me a warning that I may lose quality)- My PS3 recognized the Memory stick easily, and was able to watch raw footage instantlyCons- Grainy picture under low light conditions- Doesnt do 1080 @24p (haven't had the opportunity to compare the quality of video between this model and other HD camcorder- Memory Stick is expensive.. Got a 4GB for $35 at a local store on sale..- Wish I could have used the built-in flash light for video also, not just audio. - Doesnt include the mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter/cable.. I have used monoprice dot com in the past, and have find excellent value cables thereOverall, awesome camcorder.. Although Canon Vixia HF100 has excellent reviews, I think I am going to keep it.. Pls dont forget to budget for a flash light accessory for shooting in low lights..

Strengths: Records to flash memory card (Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo). Sharp 1080p recording. Best looking camcorder on the market (small size, dark black casing). Takes 6.1 megapixel still photos.
Weaknesses: Unconfirmed if memory stick capacity can exceed 4GB (or 30 minutes at 1080p resolution). Low light resolution and contrast could be better. Point-and-shoot focus cuts out some user configurability.
Summary: I LOVE THIS CAMCORDER. I've been waiting for years for someone to come out with a camcorder that combined HD-resolution with memory card recording. While hard disk recording may be equally convenient for home video editing and burning to DVD or BluRay discs, the simplicity of pulling out the memory card and popping it into your PC for transferring and editing is truly an understated luxury. Not to mention, the camera makes no sound while you're recording--no gears, no buzzing from the tape, disc or hard drive, etc. The memory stick format also allows for an ultra small footprint, about 30% smaller than its hard drive analog. Sony will introduce a 16GB memory card in March 2008. Hopefully the card will be compatible with the camcorder and more memory card camcorders will be introduced.

Strengths: small6.1 megapixels still with pretty quick capturegood pictureeasy to usegood price
Weaknesses: memory sticks keep giving me an error --- could be me --- have not figured it out yet.
Summary: I am very happy with my new camera. I had an old sony camcorder from 2003 and an old HP camera. I can now just use my new camera because it is better than both.
