Strengths: It is a HDTV using projection technology. I feel projection tvs are superior to LCDs. So far I like the color contrast and picture quality.

Weaknesses: The downside is it is only 720p.

Summary: It has very good picture quality compared to other brands. AS mentioned, the downside is 720p. In today's world, I think 1080p should be a miniumum unless you get a really good buy on it like I did. Also, if you have the space, projection TVs rank higher in image/color quality than LCDs or plasmas, but the gap is closing. CRTs still have the best color quality of all, but those are really going out of fashion. The included remote is more than adequate and only RF cable is provided. Also it provides 1 spare bulb.

Strengths: Super HDTV picture for an LCD projection TV, excellent built-in UHF tuner receives local HDTV with just rabbit ears. Bulb is replaceable.

Weaknesses: Not as dark as a plasma TV, but it doesn't have reflections either. You'll need a stand for it.

Summary: This LCD-projection HDTV might weigh less than 60 pounds, but this Sony is no lightweight. We've had no issues with our set since day one. HDTV pictures are nice and sharp with good color - regular NTSC TV from a digital cable box (thru the digital cable) looks acceptable too. Audio is good, but not earth-shattering - you'll probably want to add some external audio amp to it for movies - BUT, I haven't figured-out how to get audio out both the built-in speakers AND the audio output jacks at the same time - it appears that it's a one or the other arrangement. An LCD projection TV gives you the most square inches of video for the lowest power comsumption too. You can't hang this on a wall as it is about 15" deep at the bottom and only a few inches deep at the top, but it fits great on a piece of 'assemble it yourself' furniture. A regular DVD player with progressive scan output and component outputs looks really decent on this set without buying an HD DVD player. Ther is a TON of inputs on this baby: There is a cable TV input, there is a VHF/UHF antenna input and about another 7 or 8 inputs for everything from composite, S-Video, component, 2 digital inputs or even a computer monitor input! Remote is pretty straight forward and you can choose 3 different screen shapes on the remote - standard size, zoomed-in and wide zoom, so just about everything can be made to fit the screen WITHOUT squishing things together. This doesn't have a flicker to it like some DLP's I checked-out, and it doesn't heat up the house like a plasma. You can even change-out the 'bulb' when it conks-out, extending the life of your TV when other sets would be dark, or done for. I haven't found anything on this Sony KDF-46E2000 46" LCD Projection TV that I want added, except being able to have audio output from the TV jacks, but continue to use the built-in stereo speakers. The price was almost half as much as a plasma this same size, so it's a no-brainer to have this set in your house - I hope you enjoy your set as much as we have!

Strengths: Great Contrast for an LCD RPTV, No noticeable screen door effect

Weaknesses: Green push, Sony Mexico's poor quality control

Summary: I did days and days of research before purchasing this set. In my price range, choice had been limited to a single LCD or DLP/Color wheel set.The DLPs in this price range use a color wheel and are are susceptible to th e"rainbow effect" which is a problem for a small number of folks who do see this headache inducing effect. So the DLPs are out since I have young children (how does a 3 year old articulate whether they see rainbows or not?). I didn't want to buy a set and find out several years later that one of my kids are getting headaches from the TV. The LCDs on the other hand do not have as good a contrast as the DLPs and are susceptible to the "screen door effect".So when Sony introduced the E2000 series sets and the initial reviews indicated best contrast for an LCD in this price range I though this may just be the set for me... I went to my local Circuit City to check it out and was immediately sold. Great picture, No noticeable screen door effect and good contrast. Now for the not so good... I am on my third set!!! The first had a strong green push. The skin tones were so green it made everyone look like Martians... Back to CC it went. The second set had such a bad geometry problem that SNN, ESPN... tickers on the bottom of the screen were being chopped off, back it went to CC.The third set is the best yet but there's still a bit of green push. Checking out the other sets on the CC and BB floor, I noticed that most HDTV sets push the green up (makes sporting events look better). My set is tolerable (still has the best picture quality of any in this price range) so I'll keep it and perhaps get an ISF calibration. Be careful if you get this set... The factory cal is hit and miss. You may have to pick through several sets to get a "good" one.

Strengths: Compact, great picture, very bright

Weaknesses: Lousy remote control, confusing menu screens, average sound

Summary: Having used this TV for a couple of days now I found this Sony an overall great TV. I looked at this model at Best Buy in between a Mitsubishi and a JVC at it was comparable to both TVs in picture and brightness. It looked as good or better than the DLP systems. As far as the remote, it is about 9 inches long and hard to reach all of the buttons without the weight shifting and it falling out of your hand. I tried a smaller Sony remote which works but I can't access the menus with it. To change inputs on this TV, you have to go through the menu screen. My previous TV's remote had an input button you would press to scroll through the inputs without have to look for other buttons like on the Sony. Other than that, an impressive TV.

Strengths: Excellent High Definition picture quality, 2 HDMI inputs

Weaknesses: Just adequate SD picture.

Summary: I would recommend this TV...for the price, I paid @$1,350,is the best you can get out there. The High Definition picture quality is superb! I can notbelieve it, I just watch whatever HD channels I can get, just wish there were more HD channels available throgh mycable company. If you want to experience HD at its best, at a good price, this TV is for you.
