Strengths: Great bang for the buck at $1188LED light engine means no hot bulbVery thin frame around screenGreat menu system with lots of tweakable settingsLots of input options (3 hdmi, 2 component, vga etc)
Weaknesses: No PIPBuilt in speakers are just "ok"DLP screen Vertical viewing angle is small
Summary: After a lot of research, I knew this was the set for me. 6th Ave had an amazing in store deal, that beat any price I have seen on this tv. The picture out of the box needs a little tweaking (it was too bright and cool) but once dialed in it looks *amazing*. Upscaled DVD's look great, and Fios HD channels are unbelievably good. I suggest you vist AVS forum at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=827799 for lots of info about this set and others.DLP means no burn in, LED light engine means no bulbs to replace. Purchasing from 6th Ave was a good experience, and the delivery truck arrived when promised. Samsung is no longer making LED Dlp sets in this size, so grab one while you can.

Strengths: Picture looks great; no rainbow effect
Weaknesses: Viewing angle is annoying; sound is horrible
Summary: If you have a surround sound system the sound isn't a big concern, but when listening with just the TV, it's not very good at all. As with all projection TV's, the viewing angle is not very good. If you're planning to view the TV from another room or while laying on the ground, this probably isn't the TV for you. However, in normal viewing conditions it's very good and plenty bright.

Weaknesses: vertical viewing is really bad
Summary: I' bought this TV over an LCD or Plasma because of it's size and cost ratio. I had done extensive research and testing on different TVs and found that this Samsung LED projection is the best choice. It produces very good color and brightness. I know that some of you may disagree, but for me it is excellent. High Def on this TV is amazing, I don't have to worry about motion blur or ghosting like LCD and Plasma. If you're on a tight budget and need a big TV, this is the right TV to get.

Summary: Just rec'd this TV yesterday. It has a beautiful picture, & we couldn't be more pleased with our purchasing experience. Bought it from 6th Ave Electronics & I can't think of a thing I could tell them

Weaknesses: Remote seems a bit crowded, not very "universal"No cable card slotAudio is just OKNo PIP (available on other model for ~ $500 more)
Summary: This was our first HD set, and so far we are very happy with it. The picture quality is very good, especially considering that it is connected to cable. I suspect that it would be phenomenal if we were getting our HD channels OTA, but we are in a Bermuda Triangle of poor antenna reception, smack in the middle of three metropolitan broadcast areas. The TV is in a family room that is brightly sunlit during part of the day. One of the things we noticed right away is the lack of screen glare that we had suffered with previous sets. We would actually move the set to a different location of the room, depending on season, so the picture would be viewable if we wanted to see an afternoon ball game. The HL-T5687S has no glare issue even on the brightest day. The picture is also great from almost any angle, probably pretty close to 180 degrees left to right. This helps if like us, your room requires most of the seating is to the sides of the set rather than head-on. I wish there was cable card capability. I didn't want to use a cable box for the limited number of HD channels offered by our cable provider, so the QAM tuner is great, allowing us to still get the local channels in HD. Our previous set had very good built in audio. The Samsung's audio isn't bad, but we are going to invest in surround, since it really doesn't do the set justice - mediocre sound with such an awesome picture just doesn't seem right. Connectivity options are very good. One of the best features for us is the VGA and computer audio input. Coupled with a home theatre PC (HTPC) or a laptop with internet connectivity and a Netflix subscription, you can watch streaming video on-demand in DVD quality full-screen.

Summary: I purchased this Television from Amazon and it was a great experience overall. Received in less than a week with free white glove shipping. Price went down one week after my purchase and I was refunded the difference after contacting Amazon within a day. As for the TV, it was great right out of the box. Easy to start up. Hooked up my surround and PS3 right away and I have been glued ever since. Blu-Rays look great as do the PS3 games on this big screen. The surround sound makes a big difference. The on-board speakers aren't like surround sound, which should be expected. With the money you save on this TV, go out and buy some surround sound to boost the overall experience of this TV. I am happy with my purchase like the many others that reviewed this TV. If you are looking for a big screen HDTV with a great picture and are not caught up on hanging it on the wall, save yourself some money and buy this TV

Strengths: Big, bright, quick start up, sleek looking
Weaknesses: The biggest weakness is that linear tickers, such as an ESPN or CNN ticker, at the bottom of the screen are not completely straight. They swoop at the sides of the TV, making a smiley like ticker.
Summary: I love this tv - and is the best bang for your buck on the market. The brightness and colors are amazing...HD is great. The curved ticker is definitely a weakness, and according to the samsung service rep, it is a manufacturing defect that cannot be fixed. A little annoying, but I got over it.

Strengths: The color reproduction is fairly good. The TV starts up in under 5 seconds. Thin edges provide more screen, less border. No color wheel or rainbow effect. No fan. QAM and HD over the air very nice
Weaknesses: The remote is very clunky. The channel switching can be a bit slow compared to other televisions. The price is higher compared to traditional DLP.
Summary: I bought my set from Amazon for 1800$. The price was almost 400$ less compared to B&M stores. Delivery from Amazon was around 1 week. The delivery company gave me a call prior to sending it over so I can directly receive the set. It was VERY light (under 70 pounds). I am very satisfied about the purchase because the color reproductions were very true. THe LED mechanism allows for an average of 10 year use before changing the LED's compared to 3 years for the projection bulbs. Another asset is the over-the-air-HD antennae reception. It has a built-in amplifier so even a less-than superior antennae can receive many channels.I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a TV larger than 50 inches but does not want to spend over 2000$.

Strengths: Beautiful Picture, Decent Sound
Weaknesses: Samsung
Summary: I bought a Samsung HLT5687S from Amazon May 18th(StoreFront was HiDef Lifestyle). -I had done my research and found this TV to have all the features that I wanted, the picture was beautiful, and it was a good price. -TV was delivered without incident May 25th. Unfortunately the Remote Control didn't work. -I called Samsung support. They apologized and were going to send me a new remote. Later that day, a technician from Dish Network installed a new High Def receiver. He couldn?t get his remote to work with the TV either. -That is when I wondered if it was the remote. I looked through the codes and found one for my VCR. I entered the code into the remote and sure enough, the VCR powered on and off. This was May 27th. -I called back on May 28th and spoke to support. They agreed that the problem was with the TV and not the remote. They put in a Service Call and said I would be contacted by the Service Center. -Two days later after not getting a phone call, I called back, that was the 30th of May. They tried to get in touch with their service center, a company called Audio/Visual Experts located in Brunswick, GA (I live in St. Marys, GA about 25 minutes away). They couldn?t get in touch with this company, so they were going to assign it to someone else, or so they said. -The next day, the 1st of June, I get a call from Audio/Visual experts. He said he could come on Saturday. I said I would be home all day. He didn?t show and didn?t even call. I left messages with no response. -Starting on the 4th of June, I called Samsung three times, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The Executive Customer Relations support kept on saying that they would email somebody or call somebody and get back to me. Nobody did -On Monday, the 11th of June I called and the support rep said she was going to send me a remote. I said ?Are you kidding me, I have already established that it isn?t the remote, it is the TV? (Today, I took the remote to a friends house who has the same model, and guess what, the remote worked). The support rep said she would email the service center and get back to me. Nobody from Samsung called or emailed me once even though they said they would. -After telling me for weeks that there wasn?t another service center close to me(I live 20 minutes from Jacksonville,FL) I get a call from a company in Kingsland, this was June 15th. -A man at K&G TV repair said that Samsung had faxed him information about the TV repair Job. Then over the next week and a half, Samsung made his life miserable by not giving him access to their website, with paperwork, throwing up roadblock after roadblock(I think the only reason he put up with it was that he felt sorry for my predicament). -On June 27th, the TV was finally fixed. It was the worst customer service experience(Samsung) that I have ever had. Samsung stated that the problem would be fixed in 7 to 14 business days. That was a lie. -I will say that HiDef(the store front from where the TV came from)and K&G TV repair were very helpful during this ordeal. The minute the part came in for my TV, he was at my house and fixed the problem. Many thanks to him(but no thanks to Samsung). HiDef assured me that if the problem wasn't resolved that they would send me a new TV. So many thanks to them as well.

Strengths: LED, Quiet, fast on time, QAM tuner, 3 HDMI, 1080p on HDMI and Component inputs.
Weaknesses: No front inputs, blue ligh under power button. No CableCard (but this could be a plus)
Summary: Replaced my HL-S5688W with this set. It is super quiet compared to the color wheel/white light DLP sets. After doing a little color set-up on this set (Samsung is usually pretty bad out of the box) this set looks great. The blacks aer VERY black and the colors are bright and vivid. Have my cable box and DVD player hooked up via HDMI 1080i and they both look beautiful. With the QAM tuner I get local digital channels from my cable provider without using the set top box and the picture looks identical to the picture through the set top box. Very clear and crisp. Samsung placed the connections on the side of this set. This is convenient if your components happen to be on that side of your TV. In my case I will be moving some components around to accommodate having the connections on one side as opposed to having them on the back. By placing the connections on the side Samsung also eliminated the front connection thinking the side connection would be easy enough to reach. The only problem is they didn't put 3 composite inputs on the back, there are still only 2. So if you have a VCR (I know a little old school to have on this TV), and a PS2 your connections are full and you have to disconnect to attach your camcorder. The TV turns on very fast. With my 5688w I had to wait about 1 min. for the TV to be all the way on. This only takes a few seconds. Sound quality is so so, very lacking on the low end and a fairly limited range. But if you have a TV like this you should have a surround sound set up with a sub, then it doesn't matter. 3 HDMI (v1.1 I think) connections are very nice and will be enough for most users. The setup menu is fairly intuitive and easy to navigate but it is a little annoying that you have to go to the menu to do certain things (like swap PiP). Overall I am very pleased with this product. I think it will be in my house for quite a while.
