Strengths: Good picture, very good audio, small footprint

Weaknesses: Could use another HDMI input, lacks TV Guide support

Summary: A great projection LCD TV. Very good picture and very good audio (no need to connect to home theater equipment for normal shows). DVD movies and HD broadcasts look great, standard definition TV is passable. Best to watch it in low light though (this holds true for all LCD projection sets). Expandability may be limited due to the single HDMI input. The PC inputs are on the front panel, which could be distracting for those media center PC owners. Has CableCard slot, but you lose all programming information and lacks TV guide support to make up for that. Small footprint due to speakers being on the bottom, a plus if your setup is space-constrained. Very good value at this size level.

Strengths: excellent price for features, stylish, flawless picture

Weaknesses: screen reflects lots of light; low-light room best

Summary: Researching televisions has been my hobby for the past 3 or so months. My last big-screen purchase was a 53? rear-projection HD capable Panasonic. I have nothing to say but good things about that television and my experience with Panasonic electronics in general. I researched extensively before purchasing the PT-61LCX65. There?s essentially 3 types of TV?s: plasmas, DLP?s and LCD (and projectors, but there?s way too many issues with those includes room darkness, bulb replacement and screen purchase so I?m just leaving it out). I won?t launch into detail here, but if you?re about to spend some serious cash on a TV, I assume you?ve already done your homework. I decided against the plasma because of cost and the product?s natural picture/color loss. I decided against DLP because of the cost and the glut of refurbished DLP?s I found. I guess the tiny mirrors moving hundreds of times a second tends to the little mirrors breaking. That left me with LCD. I was apprehensive because the Achilles heel of the LCD is the Bulb. The Bulb for this sucker is about $300. And the Bulb will burn out. It?s inevitable. That being said, I ponied up the cash for an extended warranty which covered the Bulb. The cost of one Bulb ? even if you change it yourself ? covers a significant portion of the warranty. The biggest lesson I learned about the whole buying process is the remarkable similar price you end up with, regardless of the vendor. Once you add the cost of the TV, shipping, taxes, and extended warranty, you get a lot of really close prices. I?d find a cheap price, then $300 for shipping. Or a cheap price and cheap shipping, then $600+ for a full warranty. This TV also has another variable: the TV stand. Panasonic built an individual stand specifically for the TV. My thought about the stand ? it compliments the TV nicely and I don?t have to worry about exceeding any weight requirements. I was able to find the stand at HH Gregg (new) for $100. The lowest price I saw on the net was $399. In fact, I ended up getting this TV at HH Gregg. The TV was $1999, tax was $200, delivery $60 and extended warranty (covering everything under the sun) $399. Plus HH Gregg had no-interest financing for 12 months. Speaking of delivery, I tried to pickup this set with a SUV. I looked like a moron. This TV is massive. Unless you have a full-sized pickup, I think delivery is a must on this TV. The TV stand is deceivingly easy to put together. Just be gentle with all the pieces and don?t use a razor opening the box (which it says right on the box). You don?t want to scratch the glass. I believe I set up the stand in 30 minutes by myself. As for the TV itself, I give it thus far a 9.0 out of 10. unfortunately, I have it in a high-light room and I will have to put blinds on my skylights, now. The TV has a slightly reflective surface (think dirty chrome bike wheel) and in dark scenes, ambient light is noticeable. I?ve thrown up some additional curtains and that?s really helped. My suggestion before anyone buys any large TV is to just turn the TV off in the showroom. See how reflective the screen is there ? cause it?s going to be more reflective at your place (unless it?s in the basement). The stand is hefty at 80 lbs and the TV at 100, but on the stand, I can slide the TV out to access the inputs with just one arm. It?s just like it?s on casters. But this is on carpet, if you have it on a floor, it might not be so easy to maneuver. I have HD so the picture is what I expect: breathtaking. Remote control is fairly basic and you can tweak the picture as you might expect. However, there is little need to tweak the picture. I have a HD DVR so I only watch one thing at a time, so I don?t care about PIP and don?t use it. I have yet to hook up any video game to the TV, but I would expect it too look great. Also, I believe HDMI is the future, and this TV has an input for it. Overall, this is an excellent TV for the price, the screen is slightly light-reflective, and the whole thing is truly massive. Be sure you have enough room for this beast. Stand compliments TV well and moves easily. Recommended purchase. And recommend the extended warranty for simple peace of mind.

Summary: This TV is bright and has very nice picture quality. It amazingly handles different picture signals, analog or digital. I had to correct Panasonic rebate center's mistake few times, and have not received the rebate yet.

Strengths: Great features and picture quality.

Weaknesses: Not weaknesses, but features that would be nice to have:1) DVI.2) Additional A/V inputs/outputs in the front.3) A co-ax input in the front.

Summary: With technology always changing and emerging, it's very difficult to keep up with the latest technology in terms of price and content. I had waited out for a few years and in that time, did a lot of research on LCD TVs, Plasmas, LCD RPTV and DLP before making my final decision. This RPTV caught my attention. By far this is a run for your money, a great bargain, a Gotta Have It Deal!!! You get the following at a reasonable low price: 1) 61" LCD that weighs slightly over 100lbs and less than 19" deep (not the obsolete, 150lbs+ and 20"+ deep LCD CRT). 2) PC compatible. 3) HDTV compatible. 4) Cable card & SD memory card slots compatible. 5) HDMI input. 6) Built-in HD tuner. 7) PIP Split Screen. 8) Great for viewing photos, camcorder usage. I owned this TV for ONLY 2 days and already I LOVE it. I'm not a true gamer, but I had to try out my XBOX on it and the graphics were without a doubt, Amazing! All in all, a great TV! It is up there in rank and as technology advances, this TV will last and be competitive for many years to come. Recommended. A sweeter deal with the rebate.

Strengths: Life like HD Picture and good sd picutre, sleek design, easy to use remote, sd card reader,

Weaknesses: Not weakenesses but more like nice to haves: second co-ax input, built-in TV Guide would help when using over the air atenna for HD broadcasts

Summary: I have been looking to purchase a big screen HDTV for the past year. After some initial research last year, decided to waited another year to let the LCD technology mature and HDMI technology become common on TVs. Looked at Sony 3LCD TVs and Toshiba DLP TVs very closely. Sony has good picture but did not have picture-in-picture in this years models and styling looked decades old. Toshiba's 1080P TV was very good with a ton of inputs and comparable pricing but somehow I did not feel comfortable with the Toshiba brand. My research indicated that almost all major brands have good picutre quality so the deciding factor came down to other features like inputs, pip and brandname. The picture quality in Best Buy and circuit city did not look close to what I get at home with a progressive scan DVD. For some reason, the stores want to sell Sonys more than anything else so they hookup Sony with best input and cables and leave Panasonic with ordinary cables making it look inferior. I have been a Sony or Panasonic brand customer so I decided to buy a Panasonic. For some reason, Panasonic does not have many LCD project models and this was the only one in the 55+inch range. I was very impressed with the features ( sleek design, pip, inputs, sd card reader ) and price. I am an avid internet shopper but for reason did not feel comfortable making such a huge purchase online but the price difference between bricks and mortar shopts to internet shops like Amazon compelled me to take a chance. The TV was delivered in perfect condition and they even set it up in the room of my choice. The TV design looked much better at home ( up close ) than in stores. It weighs a lot less than my old tube 27inch TV. HD Picture: I hooked an $20 HD antenna to the TV and boy, was I impressed with the picutre quality? Local HD channels looked lifelike. I just could not believe my eyes. This is using a co-axial cable and NOT HDMI. DVD Picture: Makesure you get a Progressive Scan DVD player to enjoy good quality movies. The quality won't be as good as HD but it is good. I used component video cables to connect my DVD player. I could see significant difference in picture quality between a regular DVD player with composite cables and a progressive scan DVD player with component cables. SD Picture: SD picture ( Dish network ) quality is more than satisfactory. It is not as good as my old tube TV but that is expected and I am very happy with the quality. There is even a significant difference in picture when connected using S-Video or composite cables. I just wish there was an additional co-axial cable input so that I can hook both the antenna and the dish receiver using co-ax cables. For now, I have not decided whether to upgrade to HD receiver from dish or wait because I heard that the output from dish network HD receiver something like 480p and there are not a lot of HD channels available outside of local channels. I am sitting about 10-15 feet from the TV. I do not notice a lot of grainy pixels from less than 10 feet also although it is not wise to sit that close. HD picture look great from any distance. The remote is very easy to use. The SD card reader is handy although I noticed that it is better to view your picture on a laptop than on a TV. It is just painfully slow on a TV when compared to a computer. The SD card reader can be useful when you don't have a computer(laptop) handy. I have not used the PC input yet. I don't intend to use a 61 inch screen as a my PC input anyways. The TV does not look big in my family room as I suspected. The TV is very much smaller than a 60inch Sony model and looks 100times better. It is a great upgrade from me and the details I could notice on this TV are stunning. As I said before, I love the HD picture on this TV. I watched a Pistons game the other day in HD and it was better than being in the stadium. The detail on the big screen was just awesome. I can't wait to see the super bowl tomorrow. Overall, this is a great TV. I am glad I purchased this over Sony.

Weaknesses: Glare from lights in the room is a problem. Does not come with a stand. Bulb will need to be replaced in the next 2 to 4 years.

Summary: This set was very easy to set up and has a great picture. The black boarder makes the picture even better. After looking at numerous sets this is by far the best one in this range and well worth the price. The $300 rebate makes the price even better.

Strengths: Great HD picture, Great Sound, Multiple inputs (including PC on the front panel), Looks very stylish on just about any stand and EXCELLENT VALUE.

Weaknesses: Stand not included, only one HDMI input, Lamp will need replacing in the future.

Summary: This is a great value for you dollar, especially if you are looking for a 55+" screen. Picture quality is right there with the Samsung's and Toshiba's I compared it with at various stores. Can adjust the black levels and has various other adjustments to help people who have a weak cable signal. Looks great and has a very slim footprint for a 61" screen. Overall, nothing compared to the overall value of this Panasonic TV.

Strengths: Great HD performance, PC input looks better than the competition, Excellent overall quality

Weaknesses: Could use more inputs, HDMI & Component, and could have the PC connection in rear. Stand not included

Summary: The video is great on regular channels and absolutely stunning on HDTV broadcasts and video games (Xbox360). When you hook up a computer through the front panel this LCD performs surprisingly well considering it's size. I don't think there's a better deal on a 61" LCD out there, and this one is assembled in the USA. It comes with an overall 1 year warranty and an 18 month bulb warranty (according to Panasonic).**Remember the stand with this LCD is extra, but you can find some out there for under $300 (mine was $149)

Weaknesses: Could benefit from second HDMI input, broader integration of remote with other components, ie code for DVR not available. Volume equalization for all modes not present.

Summary: We have thoroughly enjoyed the big screen picture combined with excellent color quality and fabulous high definition clarity. The product is relatively easy to hook up to other components, such as cable box, DVR and Home theater receiver.
