Summary: Went with the 5689S rather than the 5687S because the salesman took so much off the price I couldn't pass it up. Either model in this line are great TV's. The description on this website is in error, it states that it is a 50 inch TV when in fact it is a 56 inch TV as specified by the model number.I finished hooking up the TV early this morning, and all I can say is WOW, this TV rocks! Picture is outstanding. I have read in other reviews that sound is so-so but I found it to be just fine. As others have said, you don't purchase this kind of TV without using a surround sound system anyway. I tested the TV's sound and found it to be acceptable for normal everyday viewing. Switching to surround sound for DVD or special programs on cable. "HDMI, HDMI, HDMI". I cant believe how easy HDMI makes hooking stuff up. After hooking up the TV and all componets I powered everything on. The TV found all attached devices via HDMI and I could control them with my TV remote. Anyway. I have only had this TV for a day, still need to calibrate. I will post an updated review in 30 days.
