Strengths: Clarity in HD, natural colors, well-defined blacks, few artifacts, extensive connection panel, very slim profile

Weaknesses: "Bowing" along the bottom of the screen, ambient light reflection, off-angle viewing, built-in speakers

Summary: The T5676S represents my first foray into a projection television and overall, I am not disappointed. Most of the negative publicity associated with this unit centers on the bowing effect at the bottom corners of the screen such that the image appears to "smile" when viewing data like program info. While this occurs on my unit as well, it is not noticeable on video source material and thus, doesn't trouble me. There are apparently picture adjustment screws on the back of the unit which may be helpful in reducing the bowing effect although I have not played with these yet.The picture itself is phenomenal; certainly one of the most natural and free of artifacts I have seen in any projection system whether DLP, LCD, or Plasma. With the HD material provided by my cable company, the overall viewing experience is that of watching a movie in a cinema. The television itself does not in any significant way, add or distract from the program material. On the downside, I have initially placed the unit atop the mantle above my fireplace and at this (vertical) angle, I do lose some brightness and detail. I also have large bay windows adjacent to the television and during the day, the ambient light reflects on the screen requiring I increase brightness to about "80". Within a few weeks, I will be relocating the television to an entertainment center at eye level and away from the windows which should eliminate these problems. The built-in speakers are only passable and you should be thinking in terms of a full 5.1 or 7.1 audio system to fulfill the promise of home theatre. My Denon/Nanosat system will be arriving shortly.Prices on the T5676S have dropped significantly which suggests that Samsung may be preparing to discontinue the model. I paid $1,150 and at that price, you simply cannot go wrong with this television.

Strengths: Great performance for the price. Perfect size (56") for a family room, we sit ~12' from the TV. Blacks are very black, whites are very white and every color in between is superior.

Weaknesses: 480i analog pictures are not sharp. Hard to decipher from the instruction book how to improve these sharpness of this resolution. Warm up time is a little longer than expected.

Summary: Out of the box the unit was very easy to setup. Multiple input connections make it a snap to use the DVR, game machine, DVD, etc. We have an inexpensive DVD with upconversion to 1080p and it works incredibly well with the Samsung. Automatic tuning works well but some stations need to be deleted after being added by the TV. These stations do not have a strong enough signal for the Samsung to present any form of picture. Remote control is good, although it was unable to easily handle the inexpensive DVD player. On my old TV, when sound was passed through a separate amp, the sound on the TV itself cut off. The volume control would then change the input into the amp and I could control the volume easily (including mute). The Samsung does not operate that way, so it is a bit of a pain to mute the sound, since my amp remote does not have a mute button.

Strengths: Terrific picture, lots of inputs, great looks, very well packaged

Weaknesses: best viewed without bright lighting/bright windows, vertical viewing angle is somewhat limited

Summary: Unless you need a flatscreen tv to mount to the wall, I would seriously consider this tv. It has a very slim cabinet and is quite attractive. The picture is gorgeous and I really didn't find a much better picture regardless of format,(plasma, lcd, etc.). I preferred the picture on this to the lcd projection.I found no problem with horizontal viewing angle, but for vertical viewing, it's best to be looking eye-level to center screen as much as possible. The sound is good, but with this great screen you'll want a home theater system to go with it to give the best experience. Remote is easy to use. Tv comes super well packaged. It is easy to remove, but you need two people to lift it from the box and place it. Prices vary greatly, so shop around. Overall, I rate this a fantastic TV!!!

Strengths: GOOD HDTV PICTURES; VERY LIGHT[ GOOD VALUE FOR THE PRICE

Weaknesses: CONNECTION TO VCR IS NOT WORKING;INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS ARE NOT VRY CLEAR - THEY ARE NOT HDTV

Summary: I WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS THE BEST HDTV ON THE MARKET FOR THE PRICE. WHEN I SAW THIS TV ON DISPLAY, I LIKED IT FOR ITS SHARPNESS AND I COULD VIEW GOOD PICTURES FROM ANY ANGLE. I HAVE IT ONLY FOR 4 DAYS AND I LIKE IT VERY MUCH. STILL I AM TRYING TO FIND HOW TO CONNECT THE DISH TO TV VIA VCR.

Strengths: Brillant colors, clear picture, easy to set-up, energy star, plug-ins, and thinner than most DLP.

Weaknesses: Speakers cannot handle power, remote could be better.

Summary: Borrowed my cousin's pick up truck. The box is not heavy at all, even though it is a DLP. Took us about 1 minute to get it out of the box and put it on my temporarily coffee table. The TV is only 67 pounds. I have no worries about it breaking the table. It is also a slim design. Looks really nice. I will design my entertainment center around this 56 inch beauty. The remote is tall and thin. It is okay, nothing really special about it. There is an illuminate icon on it, but it only lights up a few buttons. Plugged everything in, power on. The TV actually guide you through the set-up process. All I did was click OK and it started to search for channels. I got a kick a$$ HDTV antennae. No cable/satellite yet. I was able to get all the HD channels except for ABC. Man alive, the pictures are freaky sweet. The colors are brillant and the clarity is crystal. I am now watching the local news just for the picture quality! I went on to test the speakers. Anything after 30 on the volume, you can tell that the built in speakers cannot handle it. They rattle and buzz. I guess this is common, because most people that spend this kind of money ($1500) on a 1080p TV can afford to have seperate speakers. That is what I did. And they work just fine. The TV does come with enough outlet for you to plug in your receiver, video source, etc. So far, I have plugged in my speaker system. And my Xbox 360. Easy. I am waiting to get the HD DVD player for the Xbox to truly enjoy the 1080p. As for the Xbox 360, the gameplay is pretty sweet on the 56 inch. I know this is cliche, but you really get into the game with the kind of picture this TV produces. My rating is 4.25 stars.

Strengths: Picture Clarity, Bright Colors, Sleek Appearance, Price (at;east when I bought it)

Weaknesses: Some limitation to viewing angle, a slightly bulky remote

Summary: When looking for a big screen TV, the only TVs within my budget were the DLP or the Plasma. I know people may disagree, but from a picture qualitywise, the Samsung DLP beat the plasma hands down. Between the various projection TVs in the store, Samsung had the better quality and viewing angle than the Sony and the Mitsubishi that were placed right next to it. It was a slam dunk in making the decision with regards to the picture and all. The instore special (free XBox 360) was tempting too, but was a secondary issue at the end of it all. The TV itself is very good looking. The black is a lot better (to me) compared to the silver in some of the other TVs (especially Sony). It has standard 3 HDMI, which is another plus for the HD TV, DVD player, and the Wii that I plan to get one day. Friends were a little skeptic about the sound, but I have it hooked to the home theater and that does not matter to me. The hooking of the digital camera to the TV direct is another cool feaure, but like others have noted, have not been able to do slide show, etc. The 3D capability should be cool too, but frankly have not tried it out as yet. Now for the down side. Having moved from CRT to DLP, the missing viewing angles are missing, but then again, they were still better than most of the other projection TVs in its class. The remote definitely needs a lot of work. For a product so good, the remote should have been better. I am planning on getting a less bulky universal remote, so that issue would be irrelevant too. All in all it is a great TV, Samsung is the pioneer in DLP, and I would definitely recommend this TV to others.

Strengths: Sleek appearance

Weaknesses: Does not view well from an angle

Summary: Great TV for the price. Very sleek appearance. The depth is smaller than most other projection TV's. Viewing from an angle is not very good but it does not seem to be with any of them. Would recommend if looking for big screen without the big price.

Strengths: Sleek looks; easy-to-use menus; many inputs; clear and bright HD

Weaknesses: Remote could be better

Summary: I purchased this TV at Sears, taking advantage of their current $250-off special (on your Sears card) which brought the price below the competitors. The TV is very attractive with a gloss-black finish, though it does attract dust. The TV comes with a cleaning cloth to keep the case clean. The frame around the TV is very slim and the TV is relatively lightweight (under 80 lbs). There are no lights visible when watching the TV, which is a plus. The blue light at the bottom center of the TV can be disabled from the menus, the red standby light is on when the unit is off, and the green operating light responds to remote activity only. The only non-black item on the set is the Samsung logo, and that is barely visible while viewing at night. The set provides and excellent HD picture, both via cable and off-air via an antenna. Non-digital output looks comparable to the output on my old tube TVs. The TV has a very crisp and bright picture. The output from my laptop through the PC input is excellent and requires no resizing of the screen to view the entire desktop. I even hooked up my 8-bit Nintendo to the RCA video inputs and it was clear and massive. Super Mario 3 never looked so good. A USB (?Wiselink?) input is included, and it allowed me to plug my Kodak digital camera directly into the set, thought I could only view the thumbnail images (slideshow and full image view came up as ?not supported?). The documentation indicates that this not all digital cameras will be compatible. The TV speakers are better than expected (very loud and clear), and the set has RCA and digital output to route to your receiver. The remote is a bit flimsy with small buttons that are difficult to find. It does have a few buttons that illuminate, but the illumination button is at the top of the remote in an awkward spot. Placing that on the bottom or side of the remote for one-hand access would have been nice. I?m very happy with this set. I had considered a Sony, but the looks of the Samsung drew me in and the features and picture quality kept me.

Strengths: Quality of Picture. Price for a 1080p tv (if bought from the right merchant).

Weaknesses: None. People aren't sold on the speaker output but I have no problem with it.

Summary: I just got this tv over the weekend after ordering it from MacMall. Right out of the box the picture is amazing! My source is DirecTV HD and the picture on this tv blows away my other two HD sets(Sony rear projection and an ILO plasma. I ordered this from MacMall and got it delivered for almost $400 less than buying at Circuit City and $500 less than Best Buy. Neither merchant would match the price of MacMall so they got my business. I am completely satisfied with this TV and my shopping experience. It was worth the 2 week wait to get the TV and save that amount of money. The contrast is 10000:1 so pictures are bright and crisp. Blacks are Black (not dark grey) and whites are white. 1080i looks amazing. This tv makes progressive scanned DVD's look fantastic. I can't wait to use a HD- DVD player to experience full 1080p. You will not be sorry you bought this tv.
