Summary: Had installed 120hZ (40" and 52") Sony Bravia TV's at a friends house.. Was so impressed had to order the 52W4100 for myself. The colors are so vivid they jump off the screen. Matte surface is excellent for avoiding glare. Would recommend this TV to anyone..

Strengths: TV Performance is good
Weaknesses: Sony Customer Support is Abysmal
Summary: I purchased this TV through Amazon.comDuring the process of setting up the television at my house the tiny strap on the back of the table-top stand that is meant to be used for bundling up all of the cables fell apart in my hand when I tried to unsnap it for the first time. It is a tiny piece of plastic about the size of a large rubber band. Clearly this part is fragile at best, but it came apart into 3 separate pieces when I first touched it. It was clearly defective.I contacted Sony customer service on their "Customer Service" hotline (1-239-768-7547) and after being on the phone for over 30 minutes I was told that Sony would not replace the part, but I could have the privilege of paying $2.25 for the part and another $6 for shipping via UPS.They even had the audacity to try and blame the white-glove shipping company that Amazon.com used for breaking the part.So if you are counting that's $8.25 for a tiny piece of plastic (which probably cost 10c to manufacture), that was defective when I received it, on a television worth over $1,800 when I bought it.Poor form Sony, you just lost a customer who owns 2 previous Televisions, a Camcorder and a DVD player of yours. So my recommendation is to not purchase anything from Sony unless you are OK receiving this kind of customer service.

Strengths: Picture quality for sports and action movies, extra red yellow and white hook up for systems not set up for HDMI
Weaknesses: Sound quality at high levels
Summary: Has anyone noticed that when the volume is turned up say level 45 and higher there is a distortion to the sound? I guess the best way to describe the sound is it?s like a flag flapping in the wind and I didn?t just notice it on just one show.

Strengths: easy setup, great viewing
Weaknesses: cannot use universal remote for all options
Summary: We've owned our Bravia KDL52W4100 for 3 months. We couldn't be happier. Even the channels that aren't in HD look fairly good with the motion flow ability of the set. So far it has tolerated some minor touching/curiosity of our three year-old son. The screen cleans easily with a micro fiber rag. We bought the set, brought it home, and set it up independently. We did not even have to use the instruction manual. If you have basic knowledge of electronics, it is just a matter of plug and play. We only made a few minor adjustments to the automatic setting to suit our view needs. The only downfall we have is the need for so many remotes. We cannot find a universal remote that has the ability to change the component inputs (ie. dvd player, cable box, etc.). Overall, we are very, VERY pleased with our new TV. We hope to enjoy it for a long time. We're hoping to purchase a cable soon to connect our wireless laptop to the TV to watch internet streaming on the big screen!

Strengths: This television has so many strengths: clarity of picture, excellent sound quality, no motion artifacts, beautiful color, huge size, solid and stable, easy to set up, easy to use with other components
Weaknesses: The only weakness is the shiny frame that is distracting because of the reflection of lights.
Summary: Wow!!! We are so happy with our new television. We re-arranged the room it is in, and when we are sitting back in our recliners looking up at the screen, we feel like we are in our own movie theater. The awesome clarity makes the HD movies look like they are in 3-D. Our last three televisions have been by Sony. They last forever and are trouble-free. We've had this one for a little over two months now and are extemely satisfied. We bought it at full price at Best Buy, but since they have a price match guarantee, we have been able to bring the price WAY down. We were complete novices on HD and flat screen TVs, so we didn't know we would have to buy an HDMI cable for easy hookup. That created a problem where we were almost forced into buying the cable from the guy from Best Buy who was setting it up. We paid him about $90 more than the price we later paid to purchase the cable from Monoprice.com. We returned the other cable to Best Buy. The other thing we found out the hard way was when we could not get any sound on the TV at first. We called the cable company and after not being able to remedy the problem over the phone, went in and exchanged our cable box twice before finding out that you have to bring up the menu on the cable box that allows you to select HDMI as the audio source. I actually found the solution on the Internet, and not from the cable company.

Strengths: very good picture and sound...3-d interface is very user friendly. on-screen program guide also a plus
Weaknesses: remote control has no backlight
Summary: i've had the tv for about 3 months. all in all, i'm pretty satisfied with it. at first, i had wished that i had waited for the new xbrs. after a while, considering price and performance this tv had great value providing both great picture and sound when compared to the xbr. this tv doesnt provide the deep contrast that the TOC samsungs. i prefer this tv's semi-matted screen because the glare on the glossy samsung screen got annoying when i saw the tv at circuit city. the onscreen program guide is also a plus for people who dont have cable and watch OTA hd programming. the only thing i dont like about the tv is the remote which has no backlight to see in the dark and has a weak signal compared to older sony remotes i have used in the past. you have to point the directly at the tv for it to work.

Strengths: Worked great right out of the box. Easy to set up and install. Beautiful picture image with both regular DVDs and Blu-Ray disks.
Weaknesses: Can't give custom names to the input sources - can only choose from a generic drop-down list (minor point).
Summary: Bought this unit to mount on the wall of the family room. Used a Simplicity mount from Costco, and had no problems with the mounting. Using this with a Playstation 3 (for the Blu-ray disk capability), a Nintendo Wii, and satellite TV. Works fine with all input sources. Our remote controls are now getting out of hand, so there is a real need for a universal remote to handle all of this (satellite, Bravia, Wii, Playstation 3, VCR, etc.). Tried with the BBC Planet Earth Blu-ray disk set -- fantastic video experience. Very happy with the unit in general. Saved around $500 by going with this purchase through the Internet as opposed to Costco, even after expedited shipping.

Strengths: Great HD picture, easy setup, 120 Hz refresh rate
Weaknesses: Poor SD picture. If you connect the power plug to your cable box so that it is turns on simultaneously, the clock will lose the time.
Summary: I was planning on getting an XBR5, but I'm glad the salesman told me this 2008 W-series is actually better (2008 53" XBRs aren't out yet). The contrast ratio is 30,000:1 versus the XBR5's 18,000:1. Setup was a piece of cake. Basically you plug it in and go through a quick onscreen setup that takes about a minute. You'd think for the price you pay for the TV, you would get something more than a skinny remote.

Strengths: 1. Awesome picture quality for Blue-ray movies.2. Great picture for OTA (over the air) HD signals.3. A lot of cable interfaces (HDMI, component, S-video, composite).
Weaknesses: 1. The bottom has a big transparent hole, which is annoying.2. The picture quality is not so good with SD channels.3. The screen is not anti-reflections.
Summary: Bought the tv last week and received it yesterday, so I have been busy with setting it up and testing with different input sources. I have read a lot of reviwes on amazon and checked out a lot of models in bestbuy, circuitcity, finally I chose this Sony model. The blue-ray movies look awesome, the best picture you can see now. I really like the built-in OTA tuner, so I can just hook up a HDTV antenna and get all local channels in HD format, they do look great as well. I also checked some low resolution SD satellite channels, they just look ok, not even as good as my old Pioneer projection TV. Overall, it is a great tv and I really enjoy it.

Strengths: Great picture, 1080p, lots of inputs, no smearing
Weaknesses: Auto-dimming, ghosting w/o motionflow on
Summary: I like this TV overall and it looks great with HD sources. During dark scenes, sometimes there's a noticeable dimming of the backlight. It still looks good, but it might bother some people. The motionflow can look good for certain sources like sports. If you have it on during movies, it can create an unnatural feel that's been likened to soap operas. I like it at times, but I think I would have gone with one step lower to the V series.

Weaknesses: A little pricey, not a fan of the style of the bezel
Summary: I've been shopping around for a 50"+ LCD for a while now, and came across this beauty. The picture pops, especially when watching a Blu Ray on my PS3. The sound is crisp, annd overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. I just wish it were a little cheaper, tho.

Strengths: Everything we thought it would be! Great picture, easy to install and program the many options in the menu.
Weaknesses: The main thing I do not like is the shiny black frame, but I preferred this one to the larger clear acrylic embellishment on the XBR model. Bold Logo on front.
Summary: We chose this TV based on price (lower than the XBR) and other recommendations we found in the consumer and professional reviews of the Bravia W series sets. It has supposedly improved "motion flow" technology over the earlier W models. Hard to tell what that really means. I did not like the change in the frame from the matte grey finish in the ones we saw in local stores to the current product with a shiny black frame. It is a little distracting to me. We also do not care for the boldly illuminated "SONY" logo across the middle of the bottom of the set. Sound is good, although we will probably soon upgrade to a surround system and abandon the integrated speakers for that technology. So these criticisms are rather trite and overall I think this is an outstanding LDC TV, worth the cost we paid by buying online where we had no tax and free shipping. I was a little nervous about the delivery but it all went beautifully. We were only promised threshold delivery but the service we got exceeded that as the men brought it inside, unboxed it and set it on the table and waited while we checked its performance out.
