Strengths: Stunning Picture, Gorgeous Design, Plentiful Inputs, Reliable Brand, Lightweight (only 78lbs with stand), Great Features (4ms, 120hz, 450cd/m2, 1080P, 2000:1 native, 10000:1 dynamic), Included Tuners

Weaknesses: No major weaknesses; only a few minor ones: no DVI or Picture-in-Picture. Also, I have read that the digital audio out (AC3 optilink) does not work when using HDMI in, haven't tested it though.

Summary: All in all, this TV is phenominal. It was a breeze to set up, just connect the stand (about 5 min) and you are ready to go. The TV includes very reasonable speakers and a good video processor to up-convert lower resolution signals (480i/720p/etc); playing a standard DVD through an XBOX 360 using HDMI yielded what I can only describe as a near-HD picture. During my research on this TV, I found several complaints about banding issues, this TV has had none (704 serial number)- that may be on older serial numbers I think. Bottom line- I recommend this TV!

Summary: I have this cutie for abour 3 months and am so impressed by its colors and high definition picture quality which ranks no less than Samsung and Sony but with a price much better. The remote provides easy button selection, 120Hz frame rate conversion and 4ms response time are set to meet all my playback needs.

Strengths: Ease of set up, picture quality customer service (at the corporate level)

Weaknesses: Remote, no optical audio out when using the HDMI input.

Summary: I love this set it has an amazing picture. Unfortunately it is the third set I have had. I originally bought an LC-46D62U It had dead pixels and Sharp replaced it. Unfortunately I had to call the corporate office to get reasonable support. a week after I received the new set I got a HD DVD player so I needed the second HDMI port which did not work. Sharp replaced the video board and immediately after the technician left there was another dead pixel. Sharp replaced that set with this LC-46D82U as an upgrade to make up for the trouble. It has been a week and so far so good.

Strengths: High quality picture, easily set up with my DVD recorder,cable box and bose music system/speakers.

Weaknesses: None

Summary: I was upgraded from sharp LC42D62U, and got better picturequality, bigger screen size, 6 input sources, 120 Hz rate, it is a big difference from 42D62U, & I intend to add a karaoke system for my family and friends to enjoy at home.

Strengths: PQ PQ and PQ! Second HD TV - much better picture quality than 47" 1080-p Vizio LCD. Tuner is good for OTA and voice sync is good. Speaker is not bad even though they are hidden underneath.

Weaknesses: Remote is minialist; hate to flip open cover to get second audio channel. No RGB computer input. All connections at the back.

Summary: I picked the -82U over the -64U during the Sharp F&F event. Price difference is little. IMHO it looks nicer than the -64U. No banding on my unit although I heard it is still a problem. Picture quality is top-notch. I returned my Vizio to Costco the next day; even though it was bigger (47") and had more functions: e.g. picture in picture, TV Guide and a computer input. But the picture just looks so much better on Sharp; there is no looking back!

Strengths: Picture Quality, nice all black cabinet design, side inputs for easy access.

Weaknesses: Remote control, audio.

Summary: The PQ is outstanding for OTA(Over The Air) HD channels, the built-in ATSC tuner pickups more digital channels than is in Antennaweb for my area and the signals strenght are mostly in the 90% with a cheapo $25 outdoor antenna but used inside, given that all TV stations are clustered at around 43 miles away. PQ of movies from 1080p up-converting Philips DVD player is very good, almost as good as HD DVD player. Built-in speakers are very weak with very high distortion level at normal listening volume, a real surround audio system is a must, and the remote control can be designed better and more user friendly.

Strengths: Sharp picture (no pun intended), easy settings, standard remote, glass plate over entire bezel and LCD.

Weaknesses: None.

Summary: I had to upgrade from the Sharp LC-42D62U to this LC-46D82U and here's the skinny. For analog programs, the 10k:1 dynamic contrast ratio makes a big improvement in the quality of the picture. The 120Hz frame rate conversion and 4ms response time are also a plus for HD viewing. Note, no matter what size LCD you get, Sharp LCDs are set to the same factory settings, so you have to tweek them for your setup environment. Don't worry, you can always reset back to the factory settings, so go ahead and play with the settings. But the coolest of the cool features is the non-reflective glass plate over the entire bezel and LCD. Which makes keeping the whole flatpanel dust free alot easier!

Strengths: Lightweight, easy side connections vs. backside connections, overall nice design.

Weaknesses: Difficult to understand settings(i.e., color temp., adjusting picture color, input selections).

Summary: I'm overall satisfied with this TV. Since it is HD, I was a little disappointed to find out that there was such a picture quality difference from my old HD Ready TV. Some channels are awesome and others are okay. I've only had my set now for about 2 weeks, so I'm still trying to get use to the picture quality. I believe Sharp makes a great product, it's just this HD thing that I'm not crazy about. Also, since there are currently only about a dozen HD channels, I probably should have waited for more to come along before I spent this kind of money.
