Summary: After searching and reviewing the many choices of flat panel HDTV's, we decided to spent a few extra bucks and go for the Sony KDL 40XBR5....a choice well made!!! Right out of the box, we set-up and auto calibrated our current cable connection with ease. Expecting to have to upgrade our cable connection, we were surprised at the additional channel the TV found including several already in HD format. The colors are bright, crisp and clear. The picture is amazing!! We spend a lot of time in front of the tube...so the few extra dollars spent to get one of the best is well worth it.

Summary: Planned to buy a 40 in LCD. Researched thoroughly since Aug 2007. Ended up buying this TV in Feb 2008. Get good discounts on sharp. Some friends tried pushing towards Samsung. I had good experience with Sony and Panasonic. Narrowed the choices to XBR5, samsung 4081, 4071 and sharp 64u. Ran all side by side. Didn't like 4081 for the price. 4071 is also good but if u run XBR and 4071 parallel, the samsung looks artificially bright as oppsed to Sony's stuuning Natural beautiful display. Just imagine 4081 was markted at 3000 + change and dropped down to 2499. Moreover Sony vs Samsung (Japenese vs Korean) reliability history, Sony is way ahead. U're more than welcome to experience and spend time like I did. My advice No hear say non sense, sony is the best and then sharp and then samsung.

Strengths: Full 1080P, 120Mhz technology, 18 months warranty, contermporary design

Weaknesses: The remote control can be smaller.

Summary: I only want to buy the best Full HD 1080P LCD TV that can last for years. So I did a lots research before I decided to go with XBR5. I almost buy Samsung LNT4070F which is few hundred dollars cheaper and also build-in with the latest 120Hz Technology for better motion. They have similar features like fast 8ms response time, 178 degrees Viewing Angle ... but Bravia Engine just convince me it is the best video processing TV compare to others. It just worth the money you paid because you will just can't stop watching it playing anything! I will soon buy a Sony Blu-ray player to fully use this machine! From artistic point I still have to mention that it light up my living room because of it's contemporary design!

Summary: The SonyStyle people steered us to the XBR5. It hadn't been released yet but they said the early reviews were exciting. They were right. Sony has truly raised the bar. Viewing is perfect from any angle.

Strengths: When compared to the Pioneer Elite LCD, you get more ba for your buck with Sony Bravia in both audio and video. The Pioneer Elite series has only a fixed audio, the Sony is variable.

Weaknesses: None yet found

Summary: While most purchase a Sony because of the name, deep down there is much more to be found. Comparing the XBR5 to others of the same size and price range; Sony gives you so much more for your buck. From the Bravia engine, to the high impact material that protects your investment. True compatability with other accessories, makes Sony Bravia the well thought-out HDTV it is.

Strengths: Order delivery on timeGood Packaging

Weaknesses: Need to make their web site more fancy dancy like other vendors. Phone Service is good but sometimes takes little more time in going through.

Summary: 1. Service Rep I spoke was good, responded to questions quickly.2. Order was delivered exactly on day it was promised by sales person. No delays.3. Order was in good packaging.4. Got good deal on warranty too.5. Till now no issues
