Strengths: Picture Quality, Anti-Glare coating, User Friendly, Great Remote, Good Sound, Solid Stand, Ease of connections.

Weaknesses: Not a whole lot...No PC Input, Not full 1080P, No CableCard.

Summary: Bought the Panasonic 50 inch 77U in December 2007. I had read reviews about it on-line and in Consumer reports, and then finally made up my mind that this was the best TV to buy for the budget. I have followed the suggested settings for the burn in period, and haven't seen any issues related to burn in on the screen. The Anti-glare screen is a plus in my opinion, rather than a minus in terms of picture quality. HD picture quality is awesome. The SD channels are also fine and the "Just" aspect is perfect. I have a standard DVD player and can't complain about the picture quality when watching movies. I am soon planning to buy a up converting DVD player, or now possibly a Blu-Ray player. I am very satisfied with the picture quality, the quality of darks/blacks is awesome. Another thing that is a big bonus for me is my Motorola Cable HD-DVR receiver was easy to program on the remote that came with this TV. It makes life easy having to handle just one remote, when watching Cable TV. And now that the list of HD channels is slowly growing, it makes watching TV a great pleasure. Couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase. Highly Rated.

Strengths: Good Aspect Ratio, Anti Glare Screen

Weaknesses: Shinny Black Frame

Summary: The TH-50PX77U Panasonic Plazma TV was a little hard to set up. The Manual could be a little clearer on this. This is the first wide screen TV that I have owned. I did a lot of research before I decided on this TV. I have an SD Satellite receiver and the picture is very good. I have not decided yet if I will go to an HD Satellite receiver. Also the aspect ratio is good in that the picture is distorted very little and hardly noticeable when changing from the 4-3 image to wide screen. This is not true on many other wide screen TV's. One thing that could be better is a matte finish on the frame instead of the shinny black finish, which causes a very bad glare. So far I have only had this TV about a month and I am very well satisfied with it. I think it is a great value and I would recommend it to anyone.

Strengths: Great picture...vivid colors...deep blacks

Weaknesses: None...well, maybe the fact that it only has 2 HDMI inputs.

Summary: Absolutely love the TV. Purchased for $1535 shipped from BuyDig.com in January 08. Picked up a couple of HDMI cables from WalMart and my HD Upconverter on my DVD player makes this TV come to life. I don't have HD cable yet, but even with a standard signal, the picture quality is really good. Definitely worth the extra few dollars to get this model over the 75U due to the fact that you get an antiglare screen. Easy to set-up and get started. Couldn't tell a difference between this model and more expensive 1080P models. Also, this model stood head and shoulders over Samsung and other no name 1080P models. The darks are very crisp and still show detail, something that other brands lack. Definitely recommend.

Strengths: Picture Quality, Anti-Glare coating, User Friendly, Customer Service from Panasonic, Delivered from BUYDIG ahead of schedule and in immaculate condition.

Weaknesses: It won't vaccuum and dust the house while I'm away.

Summary: I've had several HD sets. I won't go into detail, but this one (TH-50PX77U50) clearly outperforms the rest. The set looks absolutely stunning resting on the Ebony Home Styles Bedford Entertainment Stand from RacksandStands.com. I had the HDTV set up and running in about 20 min. I used the picture settings suggested in CNET's Tips Tricks darkened-room picture settings; and, Bingo...we were Rollin "Very Nice". An added attraction is Panasonic's "In Home" service that is built into the manufacture?s warranty. I have already called the tech line at Panasonic just to "check it out" and was talking to a rep without hassle or extended wait times. The extended Mack service policy impressed me as a "no brainer" as well, turns out that "In Home" extended service is carried out by a Panasonic tech (as I was informed). My family room is dim with side windows that can produce a lot of glare at times. Panasonic's anti-glare screen softens those reflections dramatically. The picture color is bright and vivid with the dimensional quality found on HD sets priced significantly higher. I have read reviews on an endless list of HDTVs for several months. Panasonic's TH-50PX77U 50" Plasma TV was my final choice. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Strengths: Size, aspect ratio choices, ease of connections, lightweight, solid stand, menu choices, easy to assemble

Weaknesses: Speakers are weak, anti-glare is so-so, gray bars for screen size adjustments

Summary: And I thought our 37" Panasonic tube was great. I finally caved and bought this Plasma when VANN's reduced the pricing $200 and oh was I estatic opening that box! It's huge. I read all the reviews and distance tables. Knew 50" was the minimum. Came between Samsung T5064 and this. A couple of bad user reviews for the Samsung was all it took for me. Have reduced the picture settings to 50% for break-in (per experts), so it is a little dark right now. I only have std def TV and the ratings on the Panny were dead on. The SD channels are fine and the "Just" aspect is perfect viewing! Will switch to HD cable next week. Only issue with expert reviews - 1 said not to waste money on 1080 techno. since not here. Bad advice. Everyone is jumping to this right now. Overall, I love this TV. I waited for the right price (sub $1400), delivery was excellent, setup a breeze since all those connection ports are easily accessible, the stand is solid, weighs about 10 lbs, instructions are simple, and connected the XBOX so gaming is on a large fun scale. Only things I'd change - those stupid gray bars for the 4:3 aspect better speaker output.

Strengths: The anti glare coating is a must have if you are watching in a light room with any kind of glare.

Weaknesses: Only two HDMI inputs. One more for games would be ideal.

Strengths: Anti-glare, deep blacks, nice black piano key bezel, great HD image, good SD image

Weaknesses: Not full 1080p

Summary: If you don't plan on using a Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player, this is an excellent plasma TV. It doesn't have the full 1080p resolution that these players are capable of producing. With that said if you are mainly using it for broadcast TV through cable or satellite it is perfect. Currently, due to bandwidth issues cable and satellite providers are only capable of broadcasting in 720p or 1080i. The anti-glare screen is definitely an improvement over a standard plasma screen. It is similar to the LCD panels which absorb any reflections. Where Panasonic excels is in deep blacks that give it a very rich picture. Also, Panasonic quality is one of their strong points. Overall, I am very satisfied with this plasma and would recommend it.

Weaknesses: remote isn't backlit

Summary: If you are like me, you read all the reviews both professional and consumer to narrow your search for that big HD tv you've been saving for. Once your search is narrowed you go to a store to see these tv's in person in hopes it will make your choice easy.In side-by-side comparisons of other low end 720p plasma tvs, this tv seems to have a slightly better picture for regular, standard definition broadcasts. When an HD source is shown, most of the tv's look brilliant and are honestly hard to compare. One tv may be configured to your preferred colors or one may be deliberately set to not look as good as the ones they want to sell. When compared to a high end 720p or the newer 1080p plasmas there is a slight improvement over an already amazing picture. But lets face it, when you get *any* tv into your house you aren't going to have that side-by-side comparison factor... it will just look great. So, you make your choice based on feature comparisons and, well, price. The feature that stands apart from other plasmas is the anti-glare coating. I need this feature to make a plasma work well with all the windows in the family room. and the deep blacks of this set really make details come out like no other competitive set - images look even more three dimensional. What suprised me when I got it home was the remote control. Well laid out, large buttons that need to be large and easy to read. I'm almost sad I use a universal remote and will be putting this remote away.

Strengths: Picture Quality; Anti-glare coating; Very nice looking with thin profile speakers

Weaknesses: None to date

Summary: This is my first HDTV purchase and I'm very happy with my choice. I've owned a Hitachi Ultravision 46 inch rear projection TV for 9 years without any issues, so my early research naturally led me to Hitachi for plasma. I tried the Hitachi 55HDS69 which has a lot of features but the picture quality for standard definition channels (most of what we watch) was so poor that I was quickly turned off and about ready to go back to my rear projection set. Before I returned the Hitachi, I did more research and discovered that Pioneer, Panasonic and Samsung (in that order) are consistently the top rated brands. As I dug further into the 50 inch models I ultimately decided on the Panasonic TH-50PX77U. The key deciding factor came from user reviews that touted how well this model displayed SDTV. I exchanged the Hitachi for the Panasonic and have truly been impressed. I've read many reviews about this model that have said the anti-glare coating is effective in daylight if you have a lot of windows in the room where you watch TV. While I agree with that, the anti-glare coating is just as effective reducing glare from artificial light sources. In my opinion, the most annoying glare are those caused from room lighting that is turned on while your watching a program. This is a great feature and one that I think all plasma manufacturers will include in future models if they aren't doing so already. The integrated speakers are sufficient for a 17 x 18 foot great room with 14 foot ceiling. I also have a home theatre system that I use for movies and other programming. The TV simply becomes my center channel when doing so. The picture and other settings are very easy to navigate and you don't have to constantly tweak them. I found myself constantly adjusting the numerous settings on the Hitachi to get a better picture quality and you just don't have to with this model. Unlike some other models, the Panasonic comes standard with a base to sit the TV on a table. I was shocked to find this as an option with many products on the market. I also purchased a wall mount that I'll be installing in the next couple of weeks. Panasonic, along with most manufacturers, offer a warranty of 1 year parts and labor for all components and 2 years parts only on the glass panel. I would highly recommend this model for anyone who is in the market for a 50 inch plasma. You will find the picture quality amazing.

Strengths: Non glare screen. Beautiful default picture. Plasma Concierge warranty service. Price.

Weaknesses: No PC input. Only 2 HDMI inputs

Summary: After setting the 77U in place, I simply plugged in the AC and the cable box - turned it on and had the most beautiful default picture I could have hoped for. It defaults to "just" aspect ratio for broadcast TV, which fully fills the screen. There are a number of selections for adjusting aspect ratio. The "non glare" feature WORKS! When I wanted to see what was going across the street, I simply had to look into the screen of the 27" Panasonic being replaced. No longer. Turning on a lamp no longer appears in the screen. The speakers sound good but side mounting them as did the Samsung 5064 I almost bought, would improve the surround effect, but it's good enough for broadcast. I would pay extra for true PIP! I've just been enjoying the wonderful pic for 10 days but will experiment with sound and picture adjustments. The 77U is aesthetically very pleasing. DVD's are stunning. My small town cable company has only 7 HD channels so I'm shopping for the best deal in satellite. I want to get the max out of my wise investment. The bottom line: my purchase boiled down to months of reviewing comparing; non glare technology that really works; Plasma Concierge warranty service and my past Panasonic experience and last but not least - the $1699 "in my house" price. While reading a review of a new 58" Panasonic, it was pointed out that all Panasonic Plasma's made in 2007 have an always-on "pixel wobbling" feature that imperceptibly shifts the image one pixel at a time to avoid burn-in. Go for this one!

Weaknesses: No CableCard

Summary: I did alot of research before deciding to purchase this model. I wanted a plasma to perform well for sports on TV, but didn't want the glare of most plasmas in the bright room where it sits. The anti-glare coating on this TV does a great job of diffusing the light and still looks fantastic when iti is dark. Wish it had a CableCard so I wouldn't need a cable box sitting next to it.

Strengths: Anti-glare screen picture quality in HD SD

Weaknesses: As with most plasma's, some chance of burn in.

Summary: Did a lot of looking on internet and in stores (purchased online). Looked at LCD's and LED rear projection also. Panasonic solved the problem of glare on the plasma screen. We had a Toshiba rear projection that fried after only 4 years. Was always pulling window shades to stop reflection. When one of us was reading, could see the lamp and ourselves reflected. Almost glad the Toshiba gave out now, as it saves the conflicts. In our rural area we have a limited # of HD channels, so we have Sat. This set really improves the 480 signal! One of the important factors in buying was domestic phone customer service. Being older with poor hearing, it is hard to understand oversea operators. Has a lot of features, so you have to keep remote close. Could not be happier with purchase!

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, warranty with a well known company, ie. Panasonic, Concierage service

Weaknesses: The anti-reflective screen may take away some of the "pop".

Summary: I've owned this TV for about a month now. I was debating between this model and the Pioneer PDP-5080. The main reason I went with the Panny is because of the tauted anti-glare/anti-reflective properties. I can honestly say that they both work as intended. I live in a chalet style house with a wall of glass, so in my case that was priority one. What goods a great picture if the glare makes it unwatchable? :) I haven't compared this model side by side with the 75u which is basically the same except for the anti-glare feature. Although Cnet said the coating doesn't interfere with the picture at all I read otherwise on other forums. I can say from my own perspective that a tiny amount of that "pop" 3D effect is lost. The finish on the screen really does its job and I can hardly see any reflections at all. What does get through is very distorted by the matte finish of the screen so any reflection is very dull. The picture is still stunning nonetheless, but if you don't need the anti-glare feature I would certainly go with the 75u model. With that out of the way I can confidently say the picture in HD is simply gorgeous. I'm most impressed with the quality of the standard definition picture though. I've read plenty of articles that said HDTV's cant produce a good SD picture but I beg to differ. The new and improved processing these TVs have help alot in improving SD content. You have a few options in the user menu that can really help clean up an otherwise cruddy signal. I'm running an HDMI cable from my cable box to the TV and have it set to output only 720p and 1080i. HD content is crystal clear(especially on DiscoveryHD) and SD is just as good as my Sony CRT. DVDs look great as well and playing xbox 360 on this thing is just insane! As for the sound, I have no complaints. The sound fills the room and I only have the TVs volume at 15. I do plan on adding a 5.1 setup very soon though just to add to the "theater" effect. The TV came with a base stand but I opted to go the wall mount route. (wall mount sold separately) It was simple to install-and in no time it was flush on the wall and looked fantastic. It runs extremely quite since there are no fans, and I haven't heard ANY pops dings or hisses at all while the TV is on. I couldn't be happier but cant wait until the 103" Panasonic plasma drops in price a bit. It would look lovely in my bathroom! :P
