Strengths: Compact, ease of use, screen size, price
Weaknesses: iTunes download, headphones, reflective metal back
Summary: I highly recommend getting this. I purchased this for my husband for Christmas as the price was irresistible. I immediately opened it and found it to be very compact to hold in the hand. He will be using it while jogging and found other mp3 players difficult to scroll through and see in the sunlight. Since it had the reflective metal backing I went ahead and purchased a silicone case and the shield to protect it. They look great together. The headphones are not great. My son used them and the headphones he got from his Creative mp3 are of much better quality. You definitely have to spend extra $$ for better headphones. The Apple ipod Nano can't be beat!

Strengths: small, great sound quality, great design
Weaknesses: chrome back side scratches easily
Summary: i purchased this as my second ipod. my original ipod was the 20gb ipod 2nd generation. this is obviously a great improvement, it is much smaller and the screen is surprisingly clear. another big plus is the battery life which makes it a great device to use on the go.

Strengths: Tiny size, huge screen, great new software, just feels great
Weaknesses: Reflective metal back
Summary: Wow...Apple manages to keep improving their products again and again. This is certainly the best iPod they have made yet. The 3rd gen nano is just a beautiful music player on the outside and the software inside is now great to match as well. The screen is really improved over that last iteration, as is the overall size and shape. The only drawback is the reintroduction of the reflective metal back which is a fingerprint and dust magnet. However, just buy a case for a few dollars and things will look great!

Strengths: Small, plays video, a great revision!
Weaknesses: None
Summary: A great, small device--works as advertised. Plays videos flawlessly. Syncs with iTunes as with the previous iPods that apple makes. Easy to run with, very portable, fits easily in your pocket. Battery life (14 hrs) as advertised when playing music. Enough battery for playing a couple videos on a cross country flight in the US. A great iteration. If only the price was $50 less!

Strengths: Very much portable !! Stylist and cute !!! Great battery life if listen to music only
Weaknesses: Scratches very easily, Complicate to transfer videos and Must use ITunes to sync with computer
Summary: It is very good for listening music but not so good for video as LCD is a little small to watch video for long periods of time. I was excited at first to see video but I couldn't play any of the video files that I have on my computer , as it doesn't play unless you spend time to convert it. very comfortable to hold and portable. Overall it is very nice, but a little bit highly priced.

Strengths: Small, thin, light, plays fluid video, the best user interface around, superb battery life, finally cost comparable to competitors of similar memory size, matte finish on front
Weaknesses: Glossy finish on back prone to smudging and scratches, video requires conversion time before being playable on device, can be a little too small to watch lengthy videos, size and shape...
Summary: I've never owned an iPod before because none of the flash memory based iPods were capable of playing video. Additionally, they were more expensive compared to competitors of similar sizes. Now, the cost is about the same, this new Nano can play video, and everything is about right. The battery life literally lasts 24 hours on a single charge, and it still boasts the touch-sensitive click wheel that makes it ideal for long podcasts or audiobooks which is my primary use for the iPod. However, video doesn't play on the Nano unless you take time to convert it. The device's shiny back also picks up finger prints like crazy. The stout, thin shape also isn't as comfortable to hold as the iPod Classic or the old iPod Nano, but it does make it more pocketable.Highly recommended. I'd give it five stars if it weren't for the stupid glossy back.

Strengths: Sleek design, good navigation for mp3 files
Weaknesses: Can't play any popular video formats. Must use ITunes to sync with computer.
Summary: I'd give player 4 stars for it's audio abilities and 0 for video, that's how I came up with average score of 2.The reason I gave 0 for video is because I couldn't play any of the video files I could find on my computer. Not the mpeg2 files I ripped from DVD, not the Avi files I downloaded from Internet, not Windows WMV files, not even Apple's own MOV format as recorded by my digital camera... Even when I used 3rd party software to convert videos to supposedly recognizable format, I still couldn't load them to Ipod. The curious thing is that MOV files, at least I was able to load in Itunes... but then it failed to sync them with Ipod anyway. The verdict: Forget video, it's a good, but overpriced mp3 player.

Strengths: Small form factor, 8 GBs of space, matte finish, video capability
Weaknesses: LCD is a little small to watch video for long periods of time, not much new software
Summary: This is the third iPod nano I've owned, and it's by far the best one. Just when you think they can't make it any smaller, they surprise you with this new slim form factor. I can barely feel it when it's in my pocket. The screen is bright and clear, though a bit too small to view videos comfortably for more than 30 minutes. The controls are intuitive, indicative of all the recent Apple products. There aren't too many new features (cover flow), but the new form factor makes this iPod a must-have.
