Strengths: Everything you need for a small home theater system at a good price. Just add display device, power, and DVD.Everything comes bundled in one compact box.
Weaknesses: Low output volume, wires are small gauge, not always long enough.Quick start guide doesn't include device settings forthis DVD player and receiver combination.Need two remotes to run things
Summary: Kit contains: STR-K7100 Receiver SS-SRP7000 Rear surround speakers (pair) SS-MSP7000 main/front speakers (pair) SS-CNP900 Center speaker SA-WP780 sub-woofer RM-AAP016 AV Remote DVD-NC85H 5-disk carousel RMT-D176A DVD Remote Nice for an entry level everything-in-the-boxhome theater system. Set things up, add a displaydevice, power, a DVD and you're off and running.Looks nice aesthetically.Problems encountered:Installation assumes amplifier and player willbe at the front of your room. Speaker cables were shortfor the room I installed the system in wherereceiver is in the back. They'realso very small gauge wire. I ended up buyingnew speaker cable to get the length and gaugeI needed. Also needed longer cable for wooferspeaker. One stumbling block that took me a couplehours to straighten out is the correctsettings to activate the Dolby DigitalMulti-Channel sound decoding. You have to step through the DVD setup to find outthat you need to enable Dolby Digital andset DTS to on. Then you need to make sure thereceiver input is set for auto input detect, and be sure the DVD audio is connected withthe digital coax cable.Since the equipment is all bundled asa system, there should have been a quick-startguide describing the correct DVD player settingsto go with this receiver. It takes two remotes to run things, one for thereceiver and one for the DVD player. Somewhatcumbersome, I ended up just programming a new activityinto my Harmony 880 universal remote.Speaker volume is low unless you significantly turn up theamplifier. I'm not sure yet ifthis is a lack of amplifier output power orbecause of speaker design. You can achievesatisfactory sound, but the level you have toset the amplifier to seems high.I also added a couple pairs of Atlantic satellitespeaker stands to help support and hold the speakersat an appropriate height.Overall I think it's an OK system for the money, getsyou the theater experience for under $500.If you want higher end, probably need to look at 7.1 system and some larger speakers, pick your DVD player separate.

Strengths: The outlook is good. The DVD player is very good.
Weaknesses: Too many lines to connect. This amplifier is too big. The sub-woofer is not good.
Summary: This unit was given to me as a gift. So far, I have enjoyed its sound and picture quality. However, it is really trouble to connect so many lines/cables. The amplifier is too big to fit into my entertainment center too.
