Strengths: Hard Drive, ethernet connection, and sleek look

Weaknesses: software

Summary: I purchased SC-PTX7 from amazon.com. I love the idea of including a hard drive in the machine, so I can listen to my mp3 music. Before purchasing that, I read reviews on amazon.com, they have a lot of complaint on the software side. Because I am tech savvy and only want to use it as a box for mp3, I still jumped in for its compactness and build in hard drive.Overall, I am satisfied with the system, the look is good, the sound is good, very easy to setup and everything works. The slow start problem can be easily solved by setting default to quick start. The DVD quality is very good on my HDTV even without using HDMI input. The complain is from the software side. I do not blame them for not including the fancy functions. But there is one basic need that has been omitted. You can easily upload whole albums from your PC through ethernet port, but there is almost no way to manage the files on that 80G harddrive. You can not work on folders, the only option is to work on each individual songs. For a hard drive that can store up to 40,000 songs, it is totally acceptable. Hopefully, they will fix that problem.Still do not know whether Panasonic can have new software/firmware update, they do have the option in the operation manuals for that.overall, great concept, bad software.
