Strengths: dvd upconvert player and surround system all in one package
Weaknesses: Lacks extra inputs. Ipod dock is only a music player "No Video"
Summary: Overall I am pleased with this unit, I wish the ipod was a video dock, I have an apple dock that I connect into my TV direct and then export the sound from the TV back to the aux inputs on the Panasonic unit. The rear speakers work well although they aren't true wireless. You have to plug in the receiving unit and wire the rear speakers to it. Still saves running wires across a room. No separate volume controls for individual speakers, you can control subwoofer volume.

Strengths: Decent punch in the sound, DVD playback options are great. HDAVI works great. iPod dock works great and you can control iPod from remote.
Weaknesses: No optical audio input (Panasonic's site says it does), so you're restricted to L/R RCA input from other audio components. No option for wired Surround Speakers. You HAVE to use the wireless option.
Summary: This is a sleek looking system and paired with my Panasonic Plasma TV gives a neat compact look to the home theater. The HDAVI control works great so you don't have to fiddle with multiple remotes. Changing inputs on the TV automatically switches the Home Theater to the right audio input too. And the one touch play is sweet. Hit the button and the player and TV comes to life with all the right inputs (as long as you use HDMI). While you cannot view iPod Video through this system, the iPod music control works great from the remote which unfortunately isn't back lit and has no glow in the dark keys (are those that expensive???). Set up is fairly easy and for casual users works great out of the box. Do yourself a favor and read the manual to get acquainted with all the features it has to offer and for speaker placement. The 5 disc changer has a decent response times compared to similar Sony systems and is quiet. Reading a burnt DVD takes about 10-12 seconds, but that will vary with the different DVD burning options used. Surprisingly, this system is pretty loud for its size/price but it wont blow your roof off (if that's what you're looking for). So far I have played DVD+R, CD, CD-R, JPEG CD, SVCD and MP3 CDs and it played all of them with no problems. Some users had reported problems with the wireless receiver system if you have a wireless network setup in the house (2.4 Ghz). I have placed the receiver about 12 feet away from the wireless router and so far it has never dropped the audio signal. While it says "wireless", it only means no wires running across the room from main unit to the rear surround speakers. You still have to run wires from those speakers to the wireless receiver input which thankfully is compact enough to fit under your couch so its hidden.

Strengths: Rear wireless surrounds
Weaknesses: Passive sub,run of the mill speakers
Summary: I bought this as my 1st 5.1 unit. It is a decent unit but after 3 months I longed for a much better quality unit.It is a good entry level unit and definitly good for the family. The kids love it in their room. I did end up buying a 7.1 HK receiver then little by little bought the rest of the pieces for the den. But for the price the Panasonic is a good unit and also best to buy an extra 4 yr warranty which for me was $99.00

Strengths: Great quality of sound for a great price
Weaknesses: Complicated set up.
Summary: This is my first 5.1 speaker surround sound system. After watching the superbowl I fell in love with it and it changed my whole TV watching experience for the better. The sound was pure and clear. Even though it was hard to set up it was worth the experience I had with the system once it was up and running. Overall this product is a good buy and you should consider it if in the market for a DVD surround system.

Strengths: Easy to setup. Up and running very quickly.
Weaknesses: Fixed lengths of speaker cables can be a challenge
Summary: I bought this unit as a replacement for my legacy stereo receiver and was I suprised! This unit was easy to set-up, and delivers nice sound and excellent picture quality. It would be nice if you could modify it to play other DVDs besides Region 1, but otherwise it is a great value for the dollar!

Strengths: Versatility, Wireless rear speakers, iPod connectivity
Weaknesses: Lacks digital optical inputs, No HDMI inputs
Summary: I have been using this system with my home theater comprising of HD 1080P projector and other high definition sources. This system is quite versatile and can play pretty much all the DVD formats. 5 DVD changer certainly is a plus. Sound quality is good. There are no digital optical inputs though. Also there are no HDMI inputs though it has 1080p upconversion capability with HDMI output. Wireless rear speakers certainly make it easy to maneuver. Ability to dock iPods for audio is helpful.

Strengths: Cheap, wireless, good sound.
Weaknesses: Haven't found any yet, but give me time.
Summary: So far so good. I'm really enjoying this system for the price I paid. I'm using with my TV and the sound is pretty good, with DVD's it's really really good. I have also used the ipod dock and that has worked well. I like that you can use the remote to control the songs. I'd recommend for anyone looking for a basic home theater system. The rear speakers are wireless from the receiver, it's not a big deal for me as I put the receiver behind the couch. I'm pleased with this purchase.

Strengths: Overall easy setup, excellent sound quality, great wireless distance for what I was looking for after understanding the requirements of pinging new wireless devices. Excellent home entertain system.
Weaknesses: Poor quality instructions manual, Difficulty to read and follow. Wireless instructions for pinging other devices (mult-room systems) and continued use of surround system not explained in manual.
Summary: I would recommend this home entertainment system. The price is great! The overall performance is great once you get the system up and running. I am very impressed with the wireless range and sound quality of the multi-room system (added).
