Strengths: EASY SET UP AND USE
Weaknesses: CELL PHONE Tethering ... Turn by Turn Lag
Summary: DO your research...Traffic Reports and Communication Features only work with cell phones listed on Tom Tom's Web Site.Turn by Turn takes some getting use to. There is a slight Lag on when to turn on when confusing road conditions exist. YOU STILL NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE ROAD AND ROAD SIGNS. Do not think this TOM TOM is the WINDSHIELD or you may MISS your TURN...

Strengths: Locks onto satellites within minutes out of the box.Text to speech works very well.Customer support is terrific. No problems.Very user friendly and maps ourt routes very quickly.
Weaknesses: It sometimes frees up,but a soft reset solves the problem. The mount that came in the box was bad put I was sent a new one.On occasion it tell me to make a left insted of a right but it self corrects.
Summary: Worked great right out of the box although window mound was bad and the unit kept falling downward.I called customer support and they sent me a new mount solving the problem. The bluetooth works well although it is difficult to hear a call when placed thru 910 as the volume is very low and you cant make phone volume louder.Instructions are very vague but the people at customer support are terrific and helped me quite a few times.Want a great Gps?By this one.

Strengths: Text-to-Speech, Accurate, User friendly interface
Weaknesses: little bigger than others
Summary: The 910 is ready to be used right out of the box. It is very accurate and comes with the latest maps. The device is very easy to use and has several great features. My favorite are the text-to-speech and bluetooth. The 910 is very easy to use and only takes a few minutes to become familiar with the interface. I would suggest this SatNav for someone looking for a higher end GPS.

Strengths: User interface
Weaknesses: Horrible customer support policies.Maps and map updates are not available on DVD.Installed maps are significantly out of date.
Summary: TomTom customer service has changed their policy.Updates, free and purchased maps, were formerly available on DVD.The new policy is 'download only.' As of April 2007.Customer service experience was among the worst, if not the worst, I've ever had.Three phone calls:1. Yes, we have DVD updates and customer service will contact you tomorrow. (Did not. Later said "we never said that and it's not in our records that we did." That is, what, I'm dishonest?)2. I'm not sure we have DVD updates and customer service will contact you tomorrow. (Via email.)3. Yes, it's true that _all_ product updates, purchased or otherwise, will only be available for download (no DVD) from now on. (Boggle!)If you do not have high speed internet service make sure you have someone who can download updates for you.I tried three times over a 100kbps connection and the downloads did not complete. You must use TomTom's update manager, and the update manager (TomTom Home) does not resume incomplete downloads. Each time the download failed it started over from the beginning (after I clicked to 'Continue.') It never succeeded.I am able to download very large files over this connection and do so routinely.Resuming broken downloads would be an enhancement to the TomTom update manager. If you need to deal with customer service you will find the people very courteous and professional, but the customer support policies are inflexible and monumentally stupid.I exchanged my TomTom for a Garmin.Your mileage may vary.

Strengths: I love the text-to-speech, very accurate with latest maps
Weaknesses: n/a
Summary: This is a amazing piece of technology. I live in the city and the 910 makes getting around and finding places a breeze. My favorite feature is the text-to-speech. It makes driving with the gps easy to use while in the city or in heavy traffic because you can look at the road and not have to constantly look at the maps. The device is very accurate- you just input your destination and the tomtom does the rest. I haven't used the bluetooth yet, but that is my next adventure. TomTom definitely made a quality device with the 910!

Strengths: It works
Weaknesses: Does not do what is advertises, no bluetooth with Sprint PCS,No Road Service etc
Summary: I thought it would work with Sprint PCS Bluetooth, it does not. It does not give road news, nor weather , nor many other features that are available in other countries. Not here in the USA. I was sent a update disk after going after it on the web site. It came in without instructions and when used screwed up my maps. Hours later after waiting on hold for a service assistant, the first one could not help me, the second person did assist in getting my maps updated. Service dept took lots of time to reach as the phone number for assistance is hidden in the manual. Hopefully a system made in USA with info for the USA. Not worldwide if you are never going out of the countryFinally I would have shopped very much longer before purchasing another GPS to be sure it does what is advertised.

Weaknesses:
Summary: The GO 910 is a really nice advanced GPS system and has so many great features - I haven't even found them all yet! I love the Text-to-Speech feature, it's great when you hear street names, etc. I also really like that you can download your MP3s right onto the device - it makes it a great all-in-one unit...

Strengths: Includes 20 million POI's. POI's can be edited, added, exchanged. 20 GB hard drive, Has all maps pre-loaded that other charge for.
Weaknesses: Still have to figure out how to add POI's to an existing category. Not a big deal.
Summary: I spent months researching different GPS's and found the 910 for less than $499. It's fast, recalculating routes is fast, and best of all, it's flexible. After a search on-line, I have downloaded and used a color scheme editor for making my own custom colored maps, add voices I download, and pretty much hack a lot of other things in the 910 to make it more personalized. Accuracy is very tight on this. I was also eligible to receive the new US and Canada (North America) DVD for free from Tomtom just by entering my serial on the website and paying $6 shipping and handling. I did a test run with over 20+ waypoints in a itinerary plan and it handled it nicely and had calculated a route within seconds. I like the MP3 jukebox, but it doesn't have equalizing controls. No problem. I have a Zune and prefer using it anyway, even in the car. The 910 will connect to a Ipod, perhaps I can convince TomTom to update the firmware to read from a Zune as well. Alternate routing is great on the 910, and recalculating a route is done in seconds. I don't have much use for safety cameras in the U.S., but it does provide traffic conditions when you subscribe to the PLUS feature. The bluetooth capability in the 910 is excellent and reads all my contacts straight from my cell and allows me to answer/dial up numbers straight from the screen. I love that almost everything is controlled on the touchscreen. For models that have more knobs and stuff, just means its easier to get broke. I also tested the life on the battery, and it well exceeded the 4 hours as stated by the manufacturer. But the 910 includes all kinds of accessories, including a cigarette lighter charger and audio cables to connect to your car stereo. The bluetooth will also transmit to a bluetooth adapter if you have one attached on your car stereo. In my opinion, this works better than FM transmitters, which don't work well in big cities like Los Angeles. I was skeptical about the suction cup mount, but in my 2003 Camry, I have it fastened to the flat area near the console clock and it hasn't fallen off or become dismounted in days. I would like to see a permanent mount released so I can attach it anywhere I want on or near the console. 3rd party manufacturers will probably soon come out with one. But if you bought the 910 early on, TomTom is offering a free replacement for the newer mount that works a lot better. Just visit the website and see if your serial number comes up as a candidate. Overall, I've looked at several "New Models" from Garmin and Magellan, to name a few, and the TomTom GO 910 has all the features and more already in it that others either charge up to $400 more or they don't have certain features that are already in this model. The researchers at TomTom have really spent time on this and most of it is well thought out. I highly recommend this unit. Even if you have to be critical about every little feature, then compare those features to others and you'll end up looking at the 910 as a purchase.

Weaknesses: none yet!
Summary: For the price I think that you are getting the most value with a TomTom 910. As I mentioned above, I believe a significant advantage to the TT 910 is the map updates for North America. The new TomTom maps are some of the most advanced maps for the US.

Strengths: Easy to use, rather quick boots, a lot of features, simple design, picks up signal even when near a window. Sound quality is also a plus.
Weaknesses: Battery life is weak (but holds its own, takes a long time to boot after unhooking from PC. Suction cup for windshield really isnt that good of a design.
Summary: The best part about this unit is when you pass your turn accidentally. If you don't turn around quickly, it will map a new direction to take.I've had to use the function where you have to plan another route because of construction and roads not being where they are a supposed to be. I was actually driving on a road, but it showed me driving on the grass and still told me to turn right even though I was on grass.I've been having problems with the suction cup falling off after about 3.5 hours of driving, and I don't know about you but I don't think falls to the dash are good for a hard drive. Someone should redesign the unit. I've actually had to have another suction cup sent to me because the cup broke free from the base and two springs shot out of it. One almost went down the vent! How nice that would have been having that rattling when I have the AC on?This unit makes up for the flaws that are in the suction cup though, features are excellent, and anyone can use it. It takes a little getting used to, and you will probably want to go into the advanced features more than anything.Sound quality is excellent as well, although the American computerized voice sounds like it has an attitude. The ?Turn around when possible.? Sounds like ?Turn around you dummy you missed your road!? This is just my opinion though? so I have it set to the lady from the UK which is very clear and easy to understand. I do plan on getting the John Cleese voice soon; I just need to figure out what 10 Euros is and if it will break the bank!Go ahead an purchase this device, even though its made in China you won?t be disappointed.

Strengths: Massive hard drive (20GB), Extensive map coverage, can hold my entire MP3 library and play it through the car speakers (via an included audio cable), good support software.
Weaknesses: Annoying menu navigation quirks.
Summary: This unit so far appears to be a great combo device for GPS navigation and an MP3 player for the car. The options are too many to elaborate but appear to allow great flexibility in planning and travelling routes. A little more experimenting will probably reveal many of its nuances. But as of now I'm quite pleased with this amazing little device.

Strengths: Easy to use;Great detail
Weaknesses: Froze up;Instruction book unhelpful
Summary: I've only had this product for 2 weeks. When I received my Tomtom, it didn't work when I first turned it on. The screen froze up and I waited about 2 days and tried it again...froze up again. After a few days I decided I was going to send it back but would attempt to try one last time. Lo and behold it started working!I'm not sure what was wrong but it works great now. When it finally turned on, a different language popped up. I could not set the GPS because obviously it wasn't in English. I called the customer support number and she was very helpful. I've used the system now a few times and it works like a charm. The directions are perfect and the display is great. It is pretty user friendly once you get use to it...even for a computer illiterate(like me). The window mount could use some work along with a rewritten detailed instruction manual. Even though I have had some problems in the beginning, it has by far redeemed itself. I've never had the opportunity to try other brands but this system seems pretty good. I would recommend this product to others.
