Strengths: Lots of accessories. Easy to read screen
Weaknesses: Slow, balky, not particularly simple to operate because of that
Summary: I really don't think I'd buy another one or recommend it to anyone else. In fact, since this was a gift to a friend of mine I may end up selling it on Craigslist and buying one she'd rather have. Kind of disappointing, but the unit is the problem and not the seller.

Weaknesses: unreliable, difficult to use
Summary: Terrible product, horrible service! I bought my Magellan 3000T GPS over a year ago and it only worked for the first four months. I sent it back to Magellan for repair (under warranty). Four months later I got it back, but it still didn?t work. I called Magellan Technical Support (in India) and they diagnosed the problem as a defective car charging adaptor, since it won?t charge in any car. I had returned the adaptor with the Roadmate so you?d think they would have diagnosed the adaptor problem. For the last four months I?ve called Magellan technical support every two weeks (eight times) to have them send me a new car adaptor. Every time I call they say ?I?m so sorry, we are going to send an adaptor out immediately and you will have it in a week,? but I still have not received an adaptor. There are a lot of options for GPS, take my advise and avoid Magellan. If you decide to but a Magellan, be prepared for horrible customer service.

Weaknesses: VERY POOR REPAIR SERVICE. Returned the device within warranty period. Was promised that it would be repaired in 7 days. 31 days later still don't have the unit back. Staff is very unhelpful.
Summary: Good device when working. Horrible service when broken. Promised to receive repaired unit in 7 days, after 31 days have still not received then unit back. Asked to speak to a manager and was told the line was too long for me to wait.

Strengths: Easy to read maps, bright screen, easy to understand voice commands
Weaknesses: Slow startup, not all POI's that we need are included, maps aren't completely up to date
Summary: We live in Rochester, NY and recently took this with us on vacation to Orlando, FL. It was very easy to find what we needed and the directions were very easy to follow. The only complaints I have are that there are a few more POI's that we would like to see included such as churches and also the maps are not completely up to date. My brother has lived in his house for over 2 years now but his track still doesn't show up on the system. Overall, definitely worth the money!

Strengths: Easy to use, clear voice and directions, big memory for maps and POIs, easy to enter addresses, many different routing options (shortest, fastest, etc)
Weaknesses: Sometimes slow, too many keys around, Bulky mount
Summary: I bought Magellan RoadMate 3000T (refurb) a week ago. It works great so far. This machine is almost plug and play. It is so easy to use that when I put the GPS in my car for the first time, turned on the power, and after some instructions it then asked me for the destination address. After I entered the address, it immediately calculated the route and was ready to go! This was done before I looked at any manual. The voice direction is very clear and accurate. There are many good feature that I haven't had chance to test, but the bottom line is: it does its job well! On the negative side, I find the GPS a little slow. Also, when I test my GPS on local driving, it gives me a different route for the return trip even thought I select shortest distance option for both routes. This is not great deal because I just want to arrive my destination when I travel to other part of the country. However, this makes me think whether the "shortest distance" on the GPS is really the shortest. The other negative side for the machine is the keys, there are all around. When I tried to hold it or take it off from the mount, I will always end up pressing some keys. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase, it is a great deal for the money.

Strengths: Intuitive controls, large screen buttons, thorough CD owners manual, no screen reflections, automatic detour suggestions are amazing.
Weaknesses: No AC adaptor included, and out of stock at Magellan site. Bulky mount.
Summary: I had the unit up and running in no time. Entering addresses was a breeze. Even entering a custom Point of Interest was fairly simple, downloaded from the Magellan computer program to the Roadmate 3000T. In our city it differentiated where the one way streets were located, and identified the "quickest routes" immediately on a short trip and a multi-state trip in seconds. These were the routes which in my experience are superior to the AAA Triptik suggestions. The simulation mode is great, and can be made to run at double time. This is a great unit, and the price is right.

Strengths: Ease of use
Weaknesses: None
Summary: I have been using mine since I received it last Christmas 2006. It have been so helpful in my driving needs. I had a chance to use it out of state and that's when I appreciated it more. Thank you Magellan manufacturer for creating this useful system. This product is so good that a friend of mine is buying one too.

Strengths: #1 is EASE OF USE, and good Voice quality, Vivid Screen, Convenient Button Locations, Easy to program and store an address, rerouting, easy to navigate screens.
Weaknesses: Battery level indicator is difficult to find, lack of AC outlet adapter (to charge indoors), lack of hard mounting hardware. Points of interest - some of our local restaurants, etc. are not in db.
Summary: This is a great product. I've taught my wife how to use this in about 30 minutes - virtually fool proof. If you want a very easy to use GPS Map product for driving directions, this is it. It allows you to store addresses, recall them, set favorites, etc - all nice features. I can't comment on other reviewers having problems with the MP3 features, since I didn't buy this to use an an MP3 Player, and don't care about that feature. I bought this so that my wife, who travels, can have a very easy to use product to get her where she needs to go - and this is it.

Weaknesses: durability
Summary: I've had this for only 4 months and it broke. I bought it at BJS club. It's just wouldn't power up. Am totally pissed off because it happened to us while we are on vacation in Las Vegas. I wonder how crappy the inside materials are on which Magellan uses. They should stand by their products and give their users a 5 year warranty. But they wouldn't. Now I am stuck with this crap. Too much aggravation in talking with their poor customer support. Am dumping them and just buying a more reliable one. Call it a sunk cost.

Strengths: Quick re-route, signal strength, convenient buttons, logical menus.
Weaknesses: Slow CPU, GPS and MP3 can not be used the same time, easy system halt.
Summary: I've had this unit (actually my unit is 3050T which includes traffic info) for more than two weeks, it did help me a lot for a couple of trips (I guess any other GPS system would've helped me in the same way), but I did get frustrated on several occasions. Here is my experience: Signal is really strong even when I park in the garage. There are 8 buttons placed around the perimeter of the unit making selection of some of the functions convenient, there is a drawback here, too, the buttons are easily to get accidental pushes whenever I put it on or off the mount. Calculating route is pretty fast, even faster is when it recalculates the route at a missed turn. However, I feel the CPU speed or memory is not enough, that is obvious when entering an address, sometimes it thinks for a few seconds between entering the numbers of a zip code. Another evidence is switching between MP3 and GPS, it takes a long time and sometimes it simply gets stuck. Talking about MP3, I was expecting to listen to MP3 while using the GPS function, wrong, it can either play MP3 or do GPS mapping, not at the same time. And the MP3 quality is so-so the best. The battery indicator is not on the screen but several layers down in the menu, so when the power chord is not plugged I would suddenly get a notice of power shortage and the unit shuts it off without a grace period for me to find the chord and plug it in. Overall, the GPS does its guiding works in a gracious way, but other than that, there is not much to say about it. For the same amount of money, there are many choices on the market, so next time I would probably try something different.
