Strengths: Hardware works well except for the suction cup.

Weaknesses: TT support!

Summary: The TT hardware works OK but the suction cup attachment is inadequate and don't buy a refurbished TomTom. When they say factory refurbished, they mean it was returned to the factory to fix the broken HARDWARE but they DID NOT UPDATE the original dated map software (mine was 18 months old when I received it). It will cost more to purchase the map update than if purchased new with current maps. The other disadvantage with a refurbed TT is that you only get half the warranty. This is precisely the situation with my purchase. This is my second TT and when I wrote the company about the price disconnect between buying new vs. refurbed, they blew me off three times. Bottom Line: If this is how they treat loyal repeat customers, it is the last they will see of me--next time I will buy a Garmin.Remember: Refurbished means HARDWARE ONLY, software will be old/outdated and the warranty will be reduced as well.

Strengths: Aquires the satellite quickly, reroutes fast.

Weaknesses: Map is at least 3 years old. Many points of interest, resturants, motels don't exist any longer & new ones missing. Mount is worthless, throw it away and purchase an aftermarket.

Summary: I purchase this unit in May of 2008. I have taken 3 trips since, all from MN and back, one to Missouri, and Arkansas, one to Idaho and one to Maine. The current map is at least 3 years out of date. My home was not on the mapping system. I do live in a small town so didn't really expect it to be there. My son however lives in Post Falls, ID and I did expect his address to be there as he has lived in the subdivision for 3 years. It showed I was driving in a field when I got to his house. True you can make changes and updates on the system which is a great feature, however if I were to have done that on the trips I was on I would have needed a full time secretary to do data entry. Many little things are not right. Across SD on I-90 there is a 100 mile stretch that the unit shows as 45 mph speed limit when it is 75 and keep warning you. Had to turn off the sound. We drove back from Boston across NY on route 20, the unit refused to route us on route 20 no matter what we did. Even if you selected the next town down the road it would run you north or south and then back up. If you purchase this unit, don't throw you atlas away as you need it to travel with this unit to see if it knows where you are going. It has some nice features and maybe in time they will fix some of the problems, but finding out the map is so old, I doubt it will happen too quickly. The voice miss pronunces some cities names making it hard to understand. I think the voice is english and uses their pronunciation of works. All in all not a bad unit, but there has to be better ones out there. My daughter has a Magellan Medestro, and would not purchase another one either. I am going to by a Garmin before our next trips which will be out west next summer, route 66 to the coast, up the coast and back.
