Strengths: Gives great directions and pleanty of warning about upcomming exits and turns.
Weaknesses: Voice command doesnt work with any background noise, including the sound of the road on your tires.
Summary: Overall I really like this GPS unit. It has really nice features like telling you what kind of services are at your next exit and I also think the bluetooth feature is cool. The traffic updates are also very helpful! The only thing that I wish worked better was the voice command. It has a lot of trouble if there is ANY background noise...including the sound of the road on your tires. So basically, that feature doesnt work at all in the car... But it works well in my livingroom. :-/

Weaknesses: Out of date maps (18 months old)Maps not as complete as far as house numbering as my old GarminNo automatic re-pairing on BlueTooth phone
Summary: This is not my first GPS/Satnav unit I have very mixed feelings about it, there seem to be a number of software bugs:The zoom out doesn't work beyond about the 4th level in 3D mode.It doesn't allow the direct saving of an address in the address book without having to generate a route. It shows my home location (in NW France) as 4849469 -315623 rather than the real lat/long.Other issues I have with it are, in addition to the above:The Marco Polo enhanced POI facility will not be available for another 2 months. There seem to be no updates for the speed camera database.I have e-mailed these comments to their technical support, who haven't answered after 2 days.

Strengths: Big step forward over previsous Magellan products and competition. Fast, efficient and effective displays; and excellent quality of directions. Finds shortucts that other products and mapquest don't.
Weaknesses: Voice recognition/input features virtually useless; years behind cell phone technology. User manual not well organized and very weak in places. I keep discovering useful features not in manual.
Summary: Overall, an excellent value. Fast, well designed, effective. Pronunciation of street names a major step forward. Voice input not very useful and needs major improvement. User manual has lots of shortcomings.

Strengths: 1.Strong Signals2.Loud Voices3.Offer very accurate and time-saving route4.Large LCD
Weaknesses: 1.Battery Life is Low2.GPS reacting time is not fast
Summary: This is a very good GPS. Compared with Garmin, I don't think Garmin is better than this one. However, some problems still need fixed, especially for reacting time. When I have travel in LA complicated highway systems, I need to change between I5,I10 and I710. For one example, I need to change from I5 to I710 in my travel. GPS will tell you approaching the right lane or left lane only when you are approaching the intersection. Sometimes, I may miss the exit in the highway because the GPS warning can not catch up my car speed.

Strengths: Large 4.3" Screen, Built-In Travel Information Using AAA TourBook, Bluetooth hands-free calling, One-touch AAA roadside assistance, Hands-free operation with voice command and control feature.
Weaknesses: My traffic kit is not receiving a signal.
Summary: This is my 2nd Magellan GPS unit, my first was the Roadmate 360, and I am pleased with it so far... except the traffic kit. The GPS unit works fine, the traffic kit is a separate piece that clips to the bottom of the main unit... Magellan tech support is trying to troubleshoot the problem. I like the larger display and the quick start-up when the unit is turned on. The voice command feature is great, just say, "nearest coffee" and the unit will search its database of millions of points of interest for the coffee house nearest your current location... very cool! The hands-free Bluetooth is a great feature too. Just pair up your cell phone and you can make and receive phone call right through the unit. You can also call AAA road service and the Magellan will provide your exact location so you can tell the tow truck where to find you. This unit also pronounces the street names so you don't have to wonder where your next turn will be. I should have put this first, but lastly, I got a great deal using PriceGrabber.com, I paid less than half the price of my Magellan 360 and got twice the features!

Strengths: Strong signal, Quick response time, Strong mount, Loud Voice, Voice Response Unit, Bluetooth, Built in AAA information.
Weaknesses: Do not find any.
Summary: This is my first GPS and so far I have been extremely satisfied with the product. Its really good in calculating the route and there is an option to calculate the optimal route as needed. The advantage of this GPS is that it has strong signal and can be used in multiple cars.Voice quality is really good. Another plus point is the voice response unit to do some of the basic operations like reroute. I could able to sync 2 diff. phones. However, i did not find the problem with pairing this after power up. Easy to communicate over the Bluetooth and no voice quality issues observed. Accuracy of this device is really excellent and almost instantaneous in responding and recalculating the routes. If you are AAA member then at the product registration within 60 days of purchase the warranty gets doubled which is a great deal on its own. Another advantage is built in AAA catalogues which is really handy if looking for locations with AAA discounts and other emergency assistance.

Strengths: User friendly, great user's manual. I love it.
Weaknesses: I haven't found any
Summary: I took the time to program the addresses of all the places I normally go to. People laughed and asked "why do you turn the unit on when you know where you are going". Well this GPS has a neat feature. If I hit "fastest route" the unit will sense traffic congestion ahead and reroute me around the traffic. At first I didn't realize that's what it was doing and I questioned it and found myself in awful traffic congestion. I recommend it to everyone I know. I love the Magellan 4050.Sonia R. Savarese

Strengths: Easy to use, strong signal, very quick start up, and fun voice activation.
Weaknesses: Voice commands may have to be repeated while driving.
Summary: This is the first GPS product I have bought and I am very impressed with it. It is easy to use. I did not even read the instructions. I just played with it and was able to use it right out of the box. This unit has strong signals...I have not lost one yet. The windshield mount is really strong and its very easy to install and remove from car to car. The devise is accurate as well. The only downfall is that my home address is not in the data base (neighborhood is about 1 1/2 yrs old) but I assume future updates will fix this. I would definately recommend this product.

Weaknesses: The menu system is sometimes confusing and not arranged like other vendor's offerings. It takes a little getting time to get up to speed with a new unit.

Weaknesses: Cannot change scale for different speed.
Summary: Voice command is hard to recognized when the radio is on. You need to mute everything else to have it work. And when there are kids talking in backseat, that won't work either. The map is clear and the POI database is huge.Windshield mount takes away some road visibility, and makes it too far to operate. Try some proclip mounts at proclipusa.com and you won't regret.
