Strengths: Bluetooth, speak street name, AAA travel guide, POI
Weaknesses: Need better QA
Summary: Got the refurbished unit from tigergps.com. It had charging problem, later found out it was the metal contact in charging socket was not sticking out. I tried the Magellan support, took less than 1 mins to get someone on the phone and the experience was great. They agreed to pay for shipping to send it back for repair. But later I decided to fix it myself by using the pin to pull the contact out a bit. It works great now. Every functions on this unit works, fast and very sensitive satellite tracking. Bluetooth works great with phone. Navigation works great too. The user interface is easy enough for wify :-)

Strengths: Text To Speech with understandable voice; Reason number of POIs; Bluetooth; Fast to lock GPS signal; Easy to use
Weaknesses: No wall charger; Map is out of date now.
Summary: Magellan has released a new version of firmware to improve the map view in 3D mode. I am looking forward to get a map update but for my area the old map is still ok to use. TTS helps a lot when you drive in a new area. Bluetooth makes phone call much easier and safer during driving. In summary, the 3140 is an extremely solid simple to use GPS unit.

Strengths: quick recalculations, easy to set up and use, clear screen
Weaknesses: changing from shortest distance to fastest distance, no sandbag mounting system
Summary: My husband travels a lot and it has been very convenient for his trips to unfamiliar cities. It recalculates very quickly when he is detoured due to construction

Strengths: AAA travel guide ,Allow multiple stops along the way, Exit POIs
Weaknesses: Short Battery life, No AC adapter, Hard to mount and dismount unit without removing the windsheild mount, Having to change maps when you reach Canada
Summary: I returned my Nuvi 360 for this Megallan. I don't understand why Garmin is so popular. It lacks a bunch of features that this GPS has such as an arrow in the display telling you what the direction of the next turn. This GPS has more options to customize the display. Even though there are weakness, it is still a very good GPS.

Summary: I'd love the feature of having bluetooth that connect to my cellphone during travelling.I like the build-in internal antenna. The unit is boot up and get signal pretty fast.Display remaining distance on screen is a plus.Having option to enter zipcode for address is also nice.In general, this is a very solid and useful device for traveling people.

Strengths: New map, user friendly interface, nice POI, TTS, Bluetooth; Affordable compared to Nuvi 360; Most of all, it locks the GPS signal so quickly and even inside the house.
Weaknesses: No MP3, JPEG view; Ability to upload other region (such as Euro/Asian) maps not announced yet; Not easy to remove from mounting kit.
Summary: I have this GPS for about 2 weeks and I love it although it has the weakness mentioned about. The new map, Text-To-Speech, and bluetooth, quickness of locking GPS signals are the plus. However, Magellan should provide a wall charge like 4040/50. Otherwise, when you first get it, you need to sit in the car to get similar with the GPS (they should not save the cost by not providing the wall charger). The 3140 can find the satellite signals even in my house and it locks the signal so quickly. After you set your destination, you can immediately start driving without hearing "waiting for the GPS signal" -- good job. If Magellan could provide the Euro/Asian map updating for 3140 in the future, it will be great.

Strengths: Fast satellite lock, small, brand, easy to navigate, many points of interest
Weaknesses: No traffic, Voice Guidance does not always read the turn-by-turn, window mount is not that sturdy
Summary: I bought this from Sears on sale. The product works great in Florida. I used it on 3 trips from Miami to Orlando and it has been very accurate with finding my hotels, finding Disney, and even finding close gas stations and Pizza places. The product is small and doesnt block my vision. Unfortunately, it is a little difficult sometimes to select each letter to select my location - I would rather have something which has voice recognition (but that is MUCH more expensive). For the price, this has to be one of the best in the market. My friends are impressed by the brand and that I got it for under $300. The colors are bright and clear. The navigation is usually caught quickly and the route is calculated fast. Sometimes, it is not 100% accurate in terms of finding the fastest route, but it does always get me to my destination. I bought a stylus pen to use with it and I suggest you do the same.

Strengths: SIRFIII chipset, NAVTEQ maps, great signal reception, and AAA assistant
Weaknesses: none
Summary: This 3140 Magellan Maestro is a great bang for the buck. Along with the much more accurate satellite-fixing SIRFIII chipset, it (along with Garmin units) uses NAVTEQ maps which are much more accurate and up-to-date, unlock TomTom and others. It's a feature packed GPS that is great value.

Strengths: Text-to-speech, 4.5 million points of interest, bluetooth, make calls with this GPS, very fast.
Weaknesses: The screen should have been larger for the price. Other than that, none.
Summary: This is an amazing GPS. I never get lost anymore. This system has so many features that makes it stand out. The text-to-speech is an important features as it allows you to know exactly which street to turn on. Other systems only tell you the distance which can cause some confusion. With 4.5 million points of interest, you're sure to find the store you want to go to on this system. Another nice feature is being able to use the bluetooth to make calls when connected to your cell phone. You can dial and receive calls right onto the system. It's a speaker phone so you can talk without having to hold phone up to your ear. When going a different route than the suggested one, it only takes a few seconds to reroute you. So in all, I high recommend this system.

Summary: This is by far the best GPS unit I have ever used. Magellan makes it so simple to use this unit. The screen is bright and clear, the sound is loud enough to hear over the road noise and I love the split screen feature as you approach a turn. If you ever wanted to get a GPS, I would certainly recommend this one!

Summary: The Pro's outweighs the Con's by far. The Maestro 3140 acquires a very strong signal every time. It starts up much faster than other GPS's I've used. Directions are clear and concise. It includes many features not found in other GPS's for the same price. The only thing it is missing is a MP3 player / Photo viewer.Overall: You can't find a better GPS for this price.

Strengths: 1. Best signal reception + instant start time no waiting2. advance routing option with find by ZIP code, fast interface3.superb AAA tour-book/assistant and free 2nd year warranty for AAA member.
Weaknesses: 1. Tom Tom and Garmin is slightly easier to use.2. No mp3/photo viewer/video features3. Limited voice/language options.
Summary: The signal reception of this GPS is awesome. As soon as you switch on it is ready for use, no signal hunting, no brand-logo show casing -- it is ready to route in NYC even inside a building when I switched it on. In comparison, Tom Tom One takes 5-8 secs to boot and it needs 3-10 secs to lock signal when switch-on, not huge difference but 3140 is definitely faster. In the case Garmin NUVI 350, it will take 23 secs to start and you can forget about switch-on and go. The interface is very quick and easy to use, but Garmin and Tom Tom do serve first time user better than Magellan. What 3140 has are many advance features: 4 different routing options plus avoid toll road on the same screen, you can tailor the your route with 1-2 clicks then you're ready to go and you know exactly what the route will be. Search by ZIP code is also very handy in NYC and that is what Garmin is missing big time. There are places or people don't need ZIP code search but if you do, it saves you big-time. If you are an AAA member and love road trip, this is the one to get: you get valuable AAA tour book and detail description and rating for restaurants/hotels/campgrounds, and you do get free 2nd year warranty for free. Local AAA roadside assistant number is also just 1 touch away.

Summary: excellent piece. It is amazing that magellan can afford to put so many features into there units for cheaper prices than the other brands. I'm not sure exactly why brands like garmin make you have to pay so much more for units that pretty much do the same exact thing but they lost a customer to magellan when i so both this magellan and a garmin 360 displayed next to each other
