Strengths: Improved mount, very easy to use, accurate, works right out of the box.

Weaknesses: No weakness yet

Summary: I've been using the ONE XL for about a week now and I love the new device. I have been waiting for it to come out and it has met all my expectations. The new Tele Atlas maps are great and more accurate than ever. I actually used the POI feature this past weekend to find a golf course near me. The XL is very similar to the ONE but has a larger, easier to read screen. I highly recommend this device for anyone looking for a GPS unit.

Strengths: Great maps, widescreen helpful, super easy to use even without looking at directions, great all around gps.

Weaknesses:

Summary: I'm not the most versed in GPS systems, but as soon as I opened this one, I immediately loved it. It got me across several states and gave me peace of mind on a long car drive by myself. The maps were great and the device worked wonderfully over all. Loved it.

Strengths: The implementation of the widescreen while not making the ONE XL any thicker than the original ONE is a big plus. The strength of the ONE has built upon by stretching it out without taking away.

Weaknesses: Only accessory that comes with it is the mount.

Summary: I recently upgraded from the TomTom ONE to the XL and I'm really happy with the new device. It's just like a ONE 2.0 where it doesn't lose anything that I like from the old device while adding something new that is really worth the switch. The ONE was the best straight forward, easy to use device I had played around with and the XL keeps that while giving you a wider viewing area.

Strengths: Easy to use, accurate, slim and portable, improved mount, large screen

Weaknesses: Battery life is only 2 hours

Summary: I've been using the ONE XL for over a month now and I am very happy with this device. It is very accurate and the POIs have come in handy several times. What I love most about the XL is how easy it is to use. You just input the destination and the TomTom does the rest. The mount has been rock solid and I've had no problems with "drooping". Since it's so small it is very easy to take in and out of my car and is very portable. This is a great device and best of all its fun to use. I would definitely recommend it to someone looking for a SatNav.

Strengths: Large screen, good daylight visibility, good voice output, good basic street nav

Weaknesses: Awkward user interface - too hard to do simple things you would want to do with a nav product. Customer support has some problems.

Summary: Customer support is spotty. Had to return the first unit because updating on the computer rendered it inoperative, not fixable by the owner. Phone support said the software shipped with the unit was faulty and a patch was expected in 2 weeks; return the unit to vendor. Vendor said it was a known problem and replaced the unit promptly. However, TomTom email support said there was nothing wrong with the software and I must have disconnected the unit while updating (I didn't).And, anyway, Is there any excuse for having a unit become completely inoperable and not user-fixable, regardless of what computer interaction takes place? Computers come with a complete factory-restore capability. Why not a nav system? It's just a computer with GPS.

Strengths: Simple and easy to use. Quick route re-calculation.

Weaknesses: Short battery life. Not the most compact unit.

Summary: This is a pretty basic GPS, but that's exactly what I wanted. It's simple to use, with large and clearly marked buttons. The instructions are accurate, at least in the area I live in. If I missed a turn, the recalculation is pretty quick. Map background color can be changed, and day/night time brightness can be switched (manually). There are multiple voices to switch between (including different languages such as Italian, Spanish and Chinese). It already came with a boat load of voices, but you can purchase additional ones from the web. Finding you destination can be done through several methods: Entering the address, finding point of interst, entering latitude and longitude information, entering street intersection and locating a point on a map. I think address input and locating a point on a map are most useful. One XL doesn't have any fancy features such as MP3 players and picture viewer, so if that's what you are looking for, look elsewhere. I don't have a need for such features, since I have my own MP3 player and an AUX jack in the car. So that's not a big deal for me. The touch screen is nice and big, but could be a little washed out in direct sunlight. If I'm wearing sun glasses, the problem goes away. Also, the voice command is pretty good at giving advanced warnings for upcoming turns, so I didn't have to stare at the screen the whole time anyway. The size is bigger than I thought. All the promo photos make this device look slim, when in fact it's pretty thick. It'll still fit in a nice backpack pocket, just not your shirt pocket. The battery life is much shorter than the 2 hours advertised. Although most of the time, it'll be plugged into the car anyway. Overall, One XL is a basic GPS and does a very good job at it. Hey, asking Tom Tom really does beat asking Sue Sue.

Strengths: Very, very easy to use. Picks up a signal quickly. Accurate and easy to understand directions. Large Screen. Fun!

Weaknesses: Short battery life, needs to stay plugged in on trips 2+ hours.

Summary: I've been using the XL for some time now and it has worked flawlessly. I've used it on a number of road trips and love it, but it really come in handy when I'm looking for local POIs. It's great at finding my favorite restaurants when I'm in unfamiliar areas. It is very accurate and easy to use. I've used other brands before, and IMO, the XL had the most user friendly interface. I would highly suggest this device to a friend, not only because of its high quality but because its a blast to use too!

Strengths: It arrived quickly and is so easy to use. The size is perfect and we love it.

Weaknesses: so far NONE!

Summary: We have been looking for a good sized screen but a lightweight small body on a GPS unit and finally this one caught our eye. We saw it at a local store, at a higher price I might add, so were able to fully test it out prior to ordering it on line. We would recommend this GPS unit as a quality, easy to use GPS for your car.

Strengths: Widescreen, user-friendly, great visual display, good (and clear) audio quality, and the free online updates is a plus.

Weaknesses: Short battery life, GPS signal is weak when used in an urban location

Summary: This is my first time purchasing a GPS and so far using TomTom One XL has exceeded my expectation, from the widescreen to the clear and concise audio directions has made traveling a little more exiting. The widescreen really help seeing the menu screen and directions without hassle while clear audio has help me keep my eyes on the road without needing to look at the GPS while driving. I've been using TomTom One XL for a few weeks now and the only disappoint is the short battery life and the signal strength. Everytime I drive to an urban location like Downtown Chicago or NY City (possibly because of the many tall buildings...) GPS signal becomes weak and the screen displays the map in a spinning motion, confusing me while driving without a sense of direction. But the good thing about TomTom One XL is that it works really well in suburban areas and it sure helps when I'm lost on the street while to pride to ask for directions...

Strengths: Ease of use. Varied POIs. Intuitive.

Weaknesses: Doesn't do my taxes.

Summary: I've been using one for a few months now, and it's really been great. The wider screen is great for people like me who cant see anything as is. It's really easy to use (my computer illiterate mother even gets it working). Best of all it cut 20 minutes off my morning commute giving me an alternate route. Works great in city areas too.
