Strengths: Clean picture. Simple (but painful) to use

Summary: IF you alreay have this, I hope you KEPT THE RECEIPT. Mine blew its "timer record" in only 6 months, and GOOD LUCK getting customer service. (Don't bother trying to email them; they just refer you to the 800#, where you get someone to whom English is a 2nd or 3rd language.) I received this as a gift, which I mentioned on the warranty card, but now when I call LG service (WHEN you can get through), they say they can't do anything about it without the receipt -- "how do they know it wasn't stolen?" I have NEVER had such difficulty with any other electronics manufacturer! Unbelievably, the purchaser FOUND the receipt, so let's see what LG says now! However, if their products, and their Customer "Service" is like this, I will NEVER purchase from this manufacturer.

Strengths: has a digital tuner and everything I was looking for in a dvd recorder

Weaknesses: Many: But number one is unit has a glitch which causes it to freeze up. Mine does not have a great picture compared to going cable straight to the tv, which is at odds with most reviews.

Summary: Purchased locally at Best Buy. Wanted a digital tuner to prepare for Feb 2009. This was not it. Unit froze up many times during first 90 days of warranty. Note to self, call LG and get it documented, even if not returning for repair. When it quit working, I would have just used the unit for its digital tuner, but when it died, everything quit working. I had it repaired. Now I have a loud hum from the unit. I have noted very few places even sell the unit now. Hmmmm. I foresee a door stop in the future.
