Strengths: Beautiful Design, Cool interface, great ipod, great phone.

Weaknesses: Edge network a little slow. Needs more native applications.

Summary: By far the best phone I've ever had. Very intuitive interface, great email and internet functionality. The ipod interface is the best yet. The EDGE network is a bit slow compared to today's standards, but what can you say to a 20 dollar unlimited date plan. Bottomline, this phone isn't for the businessman, its a hip/cool phone with some business functionality, but lets face it, it's built to be cool.

Strengths: safari, awesome screen, wifi

Weaknesses: Can't copy contacts from SIM, battery

Summary: So I've been playing with my iphone since last week, and here's what I've found so far: WiFi works great - no problems connecting or switching between networks - and very fast EDGE is not so bad - EDGE is all I can get at work, and its not nearly as slow as I thought it might be. The pages I've looked up all opened within a few seconds - definitely no 2 minute waits so far (as had been mentioned in some reviews) Safari is much better than I thought it would be - especially since I don't use it on my MacBook. But I imported my bookmarks into Safari, and they synced automatically with the iphone - very nice. SYNCING VIDEO- I know the CNET review said you couldn't manually manage videos, but I could - I had the option to add any of several movies in my list, and just checked the ones i wanted - very nice, since that way you can control how much memory video takes up. and videos look AMAZING. SYNCING Music So it only holds 8GB. ok, its not the same as my 80GB ipod, but isn't that what smart playlists are for? It is as much as a Nano, only with video. Activation Very fast, very easy. My phone was activated in about 5 minutes from start to finish. I didn't get my employer's discount, but I already knew that was going to happen, and I didn't get it before. Touch Screen- very responsive, menus are very clear and easy to use. The keyboard is easy to get used to, and much easier then texting with T9 - and I have pretty fat fingers. Also, I haven't had any problems operating one handed - very easy, at least in iPod and Safari modes. So the downside? Can't copy contacts from old SIM to iPhone SIM. What's up with that? ATT offered to sell me a flash drive for ~$20 so I could transfer them to my computer then to iPhone. Crazy. No Flash - I didn't think this would be an issue. But it would be nice to have. FYI, you can't see the weather.com radar in motion. Non-Issues (for me) ATT service - I already had ATT service, so I know what to expect, and here in the middle of fly-over country, ATT has good coverage. Much better than sprint, who I had before. No voice dialing- I had it before, never used it. Never found it useful, since it would never recognize the name I was saying (like Al, or MOM). Non-replaceable battery The only time I've ever replaced a batter is when I dropped my phone in water (a lot of water). So for me, another non-issue.

Strengths: Sleek design, excellent user interface

Weaknesses: None so far. It would be perfect if it had built-in GPS receiver.

Summary: I bought the 8GB iPhone when its price came down to $399. It has 7.3GB left for storage (music, etc). So that's more than my 1st generation 4GB Nano. The iPhone is a full featured PDA phone. The user interface is simply amazing. Its touch keyboard is a little bit slower than hardware keyboard on my Dash, but works fine most of the time (I have small fingers). The only thing missing is built-in GPS receiver (But I think only one of the Blackberries has that feature). With GPS, this device could truly replace all my portable devices. Anyway, the Google Maps feature is still great for that purpose.

Strengths: Very reliable operating system. Many functions can be added.

Weaknesses: Slow connection due to lack of 3G. No business account holders support.

Summary: This is one of the greatest phone I have used. It is unfortunate that the system only allows ATT. It would sell a whole lot if ATT allows business accounts as well. Other than that, this is the phone which will change them all.

Strengths: Screen, integration with OS X and Windows, size

Weaknesses: Chrome bezel, integrated battery etc, some features not present out of the box, contract

Summary: I've never seen a gadget with this much hype. However, for the most part it lives up to expectations. First, the problems. I'm running 1.1.1 and was on 1.0.2. I'll assume users are on 1.1.1. The chrome bezel scratches easily, as badly as the iPod's back of years past. There is no wireless sync support (not even contacts and appointments). This basically relegates Bluetooth to the headset. Also, the phone still has quirks I'm not a fan of. For example, there is no way to go to silent when the phone is out of the dock and to a ringer when it is in the dock. Being that I only have one phone at home, I like to be able to hear my phone ring at home and keep it silent at home automatically. This is something Nokia has had for at least 5 years. Other issues have been covered here already. Also, where is copy and paste? On the plus side, the screen is gorgeous and Safari is about as usable as you could expect on that size. Sync works well with both iCal and Outlook, and appointments made in Outlook and on the iPhone work well with each other. Multitouch and auto correction work well enough and the phone is a joy to use, but the novelty wears off pretty fast. After that it's just a solid phone.

Strengths: OSX-based, User Friendly, Bluetooth, Wireless, Ipod + Phone, Web Browser

Weaknesses: Lack of 3rd Party Apps, No Exchange Support, No 802.11x Support

Summary: This is my very first attempt at a smartphone so I come into the game with no BlackBerry bias. I bought the iPhone primarily as a means to have cell phone and mobile email capabilities, the web browser and ipod were added bonuses. While the price is a bit more than most, considering all the possibilities, I think the iPhone to be a good bargain. The phone has very good reception and wifi/edge integration works very well. Email is very sharp with the only limitations being lack of exchange support and only limited time intervals to check email. Ipod...works great like the others ipods. The interface of the iphone is very sleek and easy to navigate through setting/functions. I feel that one of the greatest assets of the iPhone is the ability to continuously update the functions with future firmware releases. I think that many of the drawbacks can be fixed and make the strong much better than it already is. I consider the iPhone to be very good attempt by Apple to enter the cell phone market. I would recommend it to anyone.

Strengths: Excellent interface, best web browser ever on a phone, easy to use, great iPod

Weaknesses: EDGE network, 3rd party apps not allowed by Apple, no VOIP client, mail auto-check can be unreliable, no iChat

Summary: I have used this phone since July and love it. It brings so many features together into one device. The keyboard is great, although it does take some getting used to. The web browser is by far the best browser ever on a mobile phone. The interface is excellent, so easy to use. There are some small problems with the device. Firstly, use of the EDGE network instead of 3G. This wouldn't be too bad if the reliability of edge was good, but I find that many times of day, edge can slow to a crawl, whereas at other times, edge browsing can be somewhat snappy. Secondly, Apple's dislike of 3rd party apps. They have issued an update which deliberately breaks 3rd party apps, when in reality, they were simply filling the gaps that Apple left. No AIM/MSN client, no VOIP client, no games. I really hope that Apple warm up to 3rd part apps because if they do this phone can be made even better. Overall, if you are the kind of person that has to carry around an iPod and a phone, then the iPhone is for you. All the iPhone needs is a few more software updates to fix safari/iPod crashes, add 3rd party app support and to add the ability to add your own custom ringtones rather than having to purchase them from iTunes.

Strengths: Nice size, excellent screen, nice design, and a full deal browser.

Weaknesses: No 3G, No support to sync corporate e-mail, expensive, pretty much SIM is locked to ATT.

Summary: The iphone is a nice phone, but not great. ATT and Apple lock this phone down which is not right since we spend so much on it. Other phones you can request an unlock code, why not this one. Beside the SIM lock down, you have the apple lock down. You can add any application, which limits you. But the phone is good. Sounds clear for all calls. The browser is great for surfing the web, but no 3G. Why??? Music sounds great like other iPods. Great builtin features such as utube, gmail, itunes, etc. Overall great phone if you a regular consumer and don't need corporate e-mail.

Strengths: Great web browsing features, friends love it

Weaknesses: att, no video capture, complicated to unlock yourself if you're not planning to use att.

Summary: Took me a few days of googling to hack this phone to work with t-mobile. It comes with 1.1.1 OS out of the box now. So I downgraded to 1.02 OS and used iphonesimfree.com to unlock it. News has it that a new "free" sim unlock is coming out soon from anysim. I paid $59 to unlock it. Anyways I couldn't wait for the free unlock.

Strengths: Amazing touch interface, slick design, full web browser

Weaknesses: Wish it had true GPS function to work with Google Maps

Summary: I upgraded from a Palm Treo 650 and the iPhone is light years ahead. Every aspect of the interface is polished to perfection, and the phone is pure joy to use. I have never come across any electronic gadget, save for the iPhone, that met or exceeded all advertised functions. The iphone simply excels at what all the ads say it does - ipod functions, web browsing, google maps and directions, photos - every thing works exactly as advertised.Apple has promised to add functionality over time, and currently has added over-the-wifi downloads from the iTunes store. As is usual for Apple, this implementation of this new feature is as slick as the rest of the phone.Bottom line - this is the BEST consumer smart phone.

Strengths: Browser, Large Screen, E-mail, Multi-touch

Weaknesses: Typing, No-3g, no removable Battery, 8gb Only

Summary: The phone of course look lovely, the browser features are amazing as well as the mail client. Though the lack of iChat, as well as 3g was a disappointment. What i really dont like is the keyboard. It rarely gets the input right as well as fixing it, it does fix some but not as good as it should be. The biggest downside is surely the typing. Also 8gb is not enough, and edge is not good enough to browse with.

Strengths: Touch screen operation, full web browser, iPod touch included, WIFI, 3rd party APPs to come

Weaknesses: No Java, no real GPS, headphone jack not compatible with most high-end phones

Summary: iPhone is arguably the best phone in the market, the feature set is solid - SMS chat, a full web browser, google maps, WIFI connectivity.the touch screen is fantastic, full colored (16m), bright. the most impressive thing is the multi-touch feature, you can zoom, a web page/picture in a breeze. I'm fascinated by how accurate the touch can be pinned on the screen, i.e. when I am typing with the virtual keyboard. it's a huge leap over the last generation stylus-based touch technology.the bad things? sure, compared to the Nokia n95, there is no download function although the safari is a 'full browser', no copy/paste, no hardware GPS, no 3G connectivity (not much difference if you only browse on it). I have a Nokia n95 and a blackberry, among the 3 I would pick iPhone. sure it doesn't do all that the n95 can, but it fits my daily usage profile.highly recommended!
