Strengths: good signal, built-in print server, easy setup

Weaknesses: unstable internet connection

Summary: I bought one from compusa.com because of the price after rebates and I was looking for a print server. I used to have a Linksys 54G. Setup was easy compared to the 54G. However after using it for a week, I started noticing that I get disconnected from the internet almost once a day (SBC DSL with speedstream 5100B modem, PPP on modem setup). My modem IP address stayed the same, but I still got disconnected every day and I had to reboot the router (modem stays on) to reconnect. I emailed USR tech support and after days of emailing back and forth, I was told that the router has a problem since they saw nothing wrong with my configuration (I emailed my config pages). I exchanged it in-store at compusa last night, so we'll see what happens with the new one. Overall, aside from the annoying disconnection issues I had, the router works fine. The print server works with my Brother MFC6800 USB multi-function printer (print only). The connection to my Toshiba's built-in wireless b/g (Atheros) is very stable around the house.

Strengths: Ease of use. USB port for printer. Good broadcast strength. Nice design. Has 4 ethernet ports as well as a USB port (used for printers).

Weaknesses: Networking the printer using the USB port took some time to figure out (I'm a n00b so I'm sure someone else could figure it out faster) but it works.

Summary: I get a pretty good signal out to all the computers in my house (the Aria and USR PCI wireless cards workwell however the Netgear card seems to perform less, which is par for the course since it acted the same way with previous routers).Overall I think it's a good buy; price was right, good quality, ease of installation, particularly because it can broadcast up to 125.

Strengths: relatively easy set up, cheap, strong signal, works well

Weaknesses: documentation, works best with matching wireless card

Summary: I know nothing about networking-- I am by no means a tech person. As such, it took me a pretty long time and I rant into some snags, but in the end it is set up and seems to work well. We have two laptops and one desktop. Laptop#1 didn't have a preinstalled wireless card so we bought a wireless card for it and followed the instructions for installing the card at the same time as the router (which is different if you are installing just the router so say the instructiosn) and this is where things got tricky. Laptop#2 has a preinstalled wirelless card but it doesn't support WPA. I had to reconfigure so that Laptop#2 could log on and then go back to reconfigure Laptop#1. Then it was all okay. Then came trying to get the computers to recognize the printer on the network-- this was where things were really kooky. There's no documentation at all about how to do this. I finally found it on the website and turns out you have to use the Add New Network Printer and use an http address. After I figured this out, it was a breeze to add the printer for all three computers-- and now it works like a charm. I rarely turn off the printer so I don't know about any problems re: needing to reboot the router... So far, we haven't had a single problem and think that this is well worth the money. We live in a 2bdrm apartment in NYC and haven't had any problems with signal strength in any of the rooms. And seriously, if I can do this, ANYONE can.

Strengths: WPA2 Encryption,Range/Performance,Integrated Print Server can act as a wireless access point if you don't have hi-speed internet access can network many PCs if you do or don't.

Weaknesses: Documentation is CD or Web only. Web setup page does explain the features in basic form the setup is not that difficult if you understand basic networking. If not, hire a pro or a friend who does.

Summary: This device is an amazing buy. A wireless router, SPI firewall and USB print server all in one. It works well with non-U.S. Robotics Wireless-G cards (at least the ones in our Dell and HP PCs). This unit did well in a recent PC World test. The WPA2 encrytion works fine (I highly advise Windows XP users to get the Microsoft WinXP WPA2 patch before using this though and the latest wireless card drivers too!). Run as WPA2 if possible! Best printer results: use WinXP and install your printer drivers locally 1st, then use the Printer wizard to connect to a "network" printer. This works just fine w/newer HP printers (like our HP 3015) that are USB 2.0 compliant. HP Scanning does not seem to work thru it though. DHCP server works well. Can be a good Wireless Access Point to connect many PCs and you can use 1 hi-speed connection among many PCs saving money over "home networking" DSL/Cable Packages (you only need an Internet gateway modem). Overall a very good product at a very good price + there are often great rebates. Paper Documentation would be nice but the web setup is not as hard as some users make it sound (more like user knowledge issues than actual product deficiencies). Web setup may also allow other OS users to use this product (Mac?, Linux? Amiga? Others?) Some features may not work for those though and depends upon the OS support. Windows 95/98 users should add in the USB MS Support patches.

Strengths: Works, pretty flexible, good price (assuming rebates all roll in)

Weaknesses: Can't change printer name (minor nit)

Summary: I have a VERY complex network at my home, with about four sub-nets and 10+ devices. I got this router for three reasons: 1) It had a print server 2) My kids couldn't get the Gameboy DS'es to work with my existing router 3) It was cheapI use this router completely within my home network (the uplink side is on my main network) and I was STILL able to make the print server work so that people on the WAN side could print. Nice.Perhaps I'm easily impressed, since my other wireless router is a fairly crappy Belkin 802.11b (only) router (that router works ok -- never needs to be reset -- but annoyingly the "Disable SSID broadcast" setting does nothing!). But I digress...Anyway, the USR router has been stable for the couple of days I've had it configured. My kids can play Mario Kart DS with people around the globe, so they're happy. My wife (and I, and likely the kids, if I set them up) can print to our Epson Stylus Color 740 with no problem. Wish there was a way to set the name of the printer. The print server is fixed to the name "My_Printer", and I can't find a way to change it (even in Windows XP -- you can't rename it once it's configured). Other than that, seems to work fine.

Strengths: Support staff first language is english.

Weaknesses: In depth documentation is weak. Doesn't even explain what lights on router are for and when setting options for driver in device manager you are on your own. U.S. Robotics said sorry- that is it.

Summary: I am use to large high price networks with 10,000 plus devices. Perhaps I have too high expection of PC wireless networks. One floor down from router, 15 feet away right below router and I loose connection. IPCONFIG release/renew won't work nor will repair. Must restart windows XP Pro (all SPs and updated). This may happen 2 - 3 times an hour and then won't happen for several hours. Nothing is going like microwave or cordless phone active. Best results by setting speed to 54 and not 125.Outside 30 - 40 feet away is lost cause. I can see a major change at about 30 feet, 25 feet all okay. Thirty feet really bad just won't work.I want detail documentation and US Robotics either don't have it or won't supply it. Seems all documentation for those with no experience.Example is drivers settings via device manager. Must be about 15 and no documentation. Browser interface documentation for router very high level and not much help.Am still debating if I should keep unit or try another vendors. The print server works great and is a nice bonus.

Weaknesses: customer service isn't helpful. problems with USB printer router recognition.

Summary: This is an overall good buy. It does what it's supposed to which is get you connected to the web. I might not recommend it if you're using different operating systems like I am- I have mac and pc laptops which i'm trying to network.I can't get either of my systems to recognize the USB printers i've connected to the router. I've had a lot of difficulty getting customer service to help me.Out of the four times i've called customer service- only 1 guy seemed to know what he was doing.

Summary: This looks like a good 802.11g router, but I already have a good 802.11g network with repeaters, etc. I bought this because of the client functionality and the print server. Works great! Now I can get that 802.11b print server off the network so it won't slow down my G equipment!

Summary: The setup and installation for router was easy. It took just few minutes to setup security and wirless printing from router. Only step i fubbled was with wireless security setting where I missed to copy the encryption key, and so then I have to log on to security settings through desktop using physical connection to retrieve the key and make it wireless. The wireless printing function is great and setup is way to easy. I was surprised when wireless printing was working even when my SBC DSL was switched of.
