Strengths: Wonderful glossy prints as well as luster/satin prints on Epson paper

Weaknesses: Small problem with paper feed mechanism

Summary: Installation of the Epson R1900 Printer went very smoothly as I anticipated, having previously installed 5 other Epson printers in the last 9 years. The only surprise I experienced was the absence of a USB cable with the printer. This necessitated a trip to my local electronics store. I began the printing process using Epson?s Ultra Premium Luster using ?Photoshop Determines Colors? as my preference and ?WOW?; I got a perfectly matched print on a 13 X 19 sheet on the first try. My monitor and print were in sync immediately. I was almost afraid to try a second one for fear of not getting the same results, but I forged ahead and loaded an 8 ½ X 11 sheet of Ilford Printasia Premium Photo Glossy, and changed the settings to invoke the Optimizer. Another ?WOW? experience. The print was fantastic. The best glossy print I?ve ever been able to produce in all the years I?ve been printing was suddenly there. I selected a photograph that had strong reds and oranges to print since those two colors have been a problem in the past to create the intensity and saturation I desired. The R1900 handled them beautifully.A few days later I purchased some Epson Premium Glossy paper and used the ICC profile to print three portraits for a client. Fantastic! The colors of the skin tones were right on the money and sharp as a tack. The only problem I encountered was the paper feeder on the R1900. The design is different than my Epson R2400 and did not feed the paper properly when using 13 X 19 sheets of luster even after placing 8 sheets into the feeder paper path. The problem did not exist for 8 ½ X 11 sheets however. I finally did a work around by placing a piece of cardboard into the feeder area and its thickness now allows the printer to grab the paper stock on the first try.The print quality, colors and saturation is really spectacular and I?m very much pleased with the output that the R1900 is giving me. A fantastic printer for the price!
