Strengths: small size and small weight

Weaknesses: cheap keyboard

Summary: Asus eee PC 4G surf is an excellent laptop. Due to its small size and weight, I can easily take it everywhere I go office, classes, coffee shops, restaurants etc. I use it to get my email and to surf on internet while on the road. I didn?t try to run heavy computations due to its limited processor and memory. It runs Linux and unbelievably this version of Linux works quit perfect out of the box. It easily connects to unsecured wireless internet but I wasn't able to connect it to my university secured wireless internet (even after I followed the instructions from eeeusers.com). Therefore installing Windows XP or a different distribution of Linux must be considered. It is very easy to install new applications and best of all that's free. It boots extremely fast. The space-bar on the keyboard does not work properly out of the box (it works only in half of the cases and that only when pressed hard in the middle of the bar), the other keys work fine. It could be very frustrating to type on this device. The tiny keyboard looks so cheap made (this is a just cheap notebook, do not expect miracles). My eee PC surf 4G - white color does not have a RAM access door and that makes it harder to upgrade the memory. Buy a back color one if you plan to upgrade easily the memory. However the installed memory of 512 MB is more than enough for several mozilla windows and an xterm window. I am extremely pleased with my Asus eee PC surf 4G (regardless of the keyboard problem I have) and I highly recommend it to anyone how needs an ultra portable laptop.
