Strengths: faster

Weaknesses: possible quality issues

Summary: The upgrade to core 2 processors is probably useless for virtually most people, but to me it was important. Some of my number crunchning applications got a speed boost, due to the better hardware. However the harddrive died after 3 months. I know that that is not all that uncommon and it's the harddrive manufacturer, but it was still rather annoying.Apple did send me a new drive and I mailed them the defective one, so they did their part fairly well.

Strengths: Quality design, performance, speed, built in camera

Weaknesses: White (gets dirty easy, but easy to clean) Safari not as good as Internet Explorer

Summary: I can't take the poor quality of Windows products anymore. At first Windows is great, but after some time things start to go crazy. Windows takes forever to come up and I hate the blue screen of death. Yeah it may have been viruses that caused a lot of that, but how many times can you take your pc in to a "PC Doctor" of Best Buy and spend $150 for them to reload your PC like brand new again? I for one got tired of it because it didn't last. That's when I went to the Apple product. It never crashes and it is simple to use. If you use iPODS like we do then that is a plus. iTunes is very easy to use and user friendly. I would say buy this laptop and purchase an iTouch or iPOD classic to top it off. I give this MacBook as well as any Apple desktop five stars * * * * * I definitely recommend this product to you. It is worth your money

Strengths: Speed, features, battery life

Weaknesses: Needs more USB ports, expensive, seems a little flimsy

Summary: I've had this laptop for about a month now and I am only now getting to know the various features. I've been a PC user my whole life but am now dividing my time evenly between Mac (for creativity) and PC (for work). I upgraded to new Leopard O/S as soon as I received it. The upgrade was a breeze and the features are nice, although I have not had time to explore them in as much detail as I would like. overall, this is a nice laptop, very powerful, and I will enjoy taking it on the road and using the ichat feature.

Strengths: Elegant and powerful computer.

Weaknesses: Ships with limited RAM (upgrade is recommended).

Summary: I bought this laptop to replace my one year old MacBook; the features are essentially the same with a larger hard drive and faster processor. It comes with built-in bluetooth and high-quality web-camera, which works very well for internet chats and Skype. Be aware that you will not be able to run Classic applications with this computer (in case you still need them...).

Strengths: Small, Great and solid design, Nice features, Awesome software

Weaknesses: None

Summary: This little Macbook built with quality, user friendly design, and nice features (some you will never see from other brands!). It has very solid design and great features (remote control, magnet AC adapter connect, build in blue tooth, etc. ) with carefully designed software. The boot up is much faster (3 min for my new Toshiba notebook). 1GB memory is enough.I knew Apple?s PC long time ago (20+). First one I experienced was in 1985 and that was my first time to use a desktop for MS degree (what was the OS? I couldn?t remember it but it was similar to DOS). Since then I use the PC all the time: from 386, 486, PII, PIII, P4, and dual core (or core 2 due, whatever). I never thought I would buy an Apple in the past. Why? Because its rock high price! With the price you paid for, you can have 2 or 3 PC with same specs. That was true and that was the past. Now we see the price drop with Apple (thanks to Intel CPUs been introduced to Apple?s product line). We all know the differences between Apple and others. That?s why some would like to pay more to have a nice Apple.

Strengths: Awesome design, Easy OS. Can use Windows Vista or XP as well with boot camp or parallels

Weaknesses: The only weakness I see is that the video graphic chip shares system memory..Apple should have given the consumers 2 gigs of memory from the start

Summary: I got my macbook because Apple has always rolled out solid products and yeah it cost more than most laptops on the market. It's still well worth it. Plus you can use Windows with additional software.

Strengths: Intel processor, Office for Mac works well with Windows world. Size and battery life make it truly portable.

Weaknesses: Substantial price premium over Windows machines. Can't understand why Samsung has no Apple drivers for its laser printers.

Summary: Dipping my toe in Apple waters for the first time since the Apple II, I have been pleased with this unit's capabilities. Tiger and the included applications are quite intuitive, and there is considerably less heft to lug around on trips than my previous "laptop". Coast to coast battery life is a plus, as is the fun stuff with the onboard camera and video messaging. Office for Mac 2004 has worked seamlessly with the rest of the world on Windows machines.

Strengths: Great design and build quality, awesome software

Weaknesses: Integrated graphics means no gaming

Summary: I am a recent switcher from Windows. The Macbook arrived in this beautiful packaging, unlike the staid brown boxes that competitor PC makers ship thier products in. Opening the packaging box is an event in itself!. Set up on first power-on is so simple - no nagging screens to activate the OS, or sign up for emails and other nagware. Best of all, the OS is not loaded with adware or antivirus to slow down the overall system. Just one advertisement for Dot-mac that one can easily decline and move on to more important matters. Wireless set up is similarly easy - just select the wireless access point from the pull-down menu, enter your password and you are on the internet. Still to early to tell, but I am going to like the world of OS X very much compared to dreadful Windows. Great little computer, great software bundle for today's digital lifestyle. And no adware, nagware or viruses to worry about.

Strengths: Fast, Light, Excellent screen, quiet, It is an Apple

Weaknesses: DVD Drive makes noise when disc is inserted and removed

Summary: Wonderful laptop computer from Apple. It has a bright and clear screen, camera and microphone built in, DVD-RW drive, and a fantastic keyboard to type on. The wireless (Airport) works wonders, and I was able to link it up with my home router in 10 minutes. The only two minor complaints are that the DVD drive makes a noise when a disc is inserted or removed, and the external video port is a proprietary mini-DVI port that you are required to buy Apple's own DVI converter so it can be hooked up to any DVI equipped monitor.

Strengths: Intuitive Software, fabulous design, smart features (remote control, front row software, magnetic charger...), does not hang itself up like Windows XP, Mac OS X!, works with Windows if needed.

Weaknesses: Some internet sites require MS Internet Explorer to work, some games that require a graphic card (GeForce etc.) may not OFFICIALLY work on the Macbook.

Summary: I got my MacBook a week ago and while at first I still used my Windows Laptop once in a while I have now completely switched to the MacBook for everything I do. I just had to use a Windows PC again today and was surprised to see that I already tried to use some of the Mac OS X shortcuts and features, only to realize that Windows is a lot more complex and frustrating to work with. Until a week ago I would never have believed that the switch would be so easy and that I would never want to go back to Windows. The main reason I got the Macbook was that my Windows Laptop (by Acer) was getting old and slow and most of my friends who had made the switch to a Mac were telling me how much they loved their Mac. At first I thought they were exaggerating but now I know better. I guess you really have to see for yourself to believe it. I would personally recommend checking it out at a local AppleStore and having a sales associate show you the features. After this personal statement some more facts (that I find very useful) about the Macbook. *The included Camera is perfect for video chats (Skype, iChat, etc.) and is fun to play around with. The picture quality is so much better than I am used to.) *The MagLite Connector will keep your Macbook from falling off the desk when the power cord is pulled. *So far non of the programs froze and even when the program is busy everything will respond. *With the free BootCamp software by Apple you can run Windows on your Macbook, too. I haven't felt the need for it so far though. *All the programs seem to work perfectly well together. Drag and drop is amazing (better than in Windows). *Since there is no extra Graphic card built in, some programs will not officially work on the Macbook. Civilizations IV, for example, will tell you that the minimum requirements are not met by the machine, but in fact will run without problems. *Installation of additional software seemed almost too easy to be true when switching from Windows to a Mac. You can actually continue whatever you are doing while programs install (no need to quit programs before installing something). *The scroll feature on the trackpad is really handy. In case you cannot take a mouse along you will not miss a scroll wheel. *Front row makes watching DVDs or listening to my iTunes collection so much more comfortable. I can just sit on my bed and watch/listen and use the remote to control everything as if the Macbook were a stereo system/TV (great for couch potatoes and lazy students like me ;)) There is so much more I find out every day about the Macbook and especially about OS X that amazes me. Of course it takes some time to get used to, but it's really worth it. The only real drawback right now is that some internet sites still require Internet Explorer, but you can find other sites with the same information or you can just install Windows on the Macbook and use Internet Explorer.
