Strengths: Apple OS, small size and it looks good

Weaknesses: None so far..

Summary: During my research of this item, the MacBook Air was released, and I was torn between the two. I however decided on this one as I thought the compromises needed were too great. This is a classy looking machine, has a wonderful feel to it and a wonderful intuitive OS. The keyboard is very nice to use. I also like the in-built camera, rather than having an external one and its wiring in the way! I like the idea of the built-in DVD superdrive and the battery life is excellent. Overall, so far, I have been very pleased with my purchase!

Strengths: Small size, lightweight, speedier than ever, Leopard is awesome

Weaknesses: Keyboard a little cheaper looking than other Macs

Summary: I recently bought a macbook and absolutely love it. The new software, Leopard, is exceptionally easy to use. i can make professional-looking presentations and movies quickly and with ease. The computer completes tasks rapidly, but best of all is the mail application that recognizes dates and times so that i can automatically add events into my calendar. The size is perfect for commuting and the drive speed is exceptional. The Intel duo works with lightening speed. This is the perfect computer for a student. Every thing sets up and works easily with it - iPod, iTunes, Airport (wireless base station), my printer, scanner. Every thing sets up automatically with through the Set-Up Assistant. You don't have to be a technical guru to be set-up and running in minutes. The price is a bit higher than other manufacturers. The keyboard is a bit cheaper looking than other Macs or past Macs. Buy the AppleCare though, and you won't have to worry about maintenance for 3 years. Besides, the Apple Bar Geniuses all know what they are doing and help is easy to get. Try getting support from a kid in Best Buy about your Dell !!!!

Strengths: Mac OS, built-in camera

Weaknesses: Expensive, only 1280 x 800 screen resolution

Summary: Upgraded to this laptop from the 2GHz system for having the Super Drive which can be used to burn DVDs.Maxed the RAM to 4GB and now the laptop is super-fast. Wish the screen resolution was higher than 1280 x 800. Went to the White instead of Black because Black one gets greasy fast and have to clean all the time. Would had been great if the keyboard was backlit like the ones in Macbook Pro.Well, we can't get everything we want so just be happy with this amazing system. :)

Strengths: reliable, quiet, easy setup, user friendly, nice design

Weaknesses: price

Summary: Though the price is high, compared to many other laptops/brands, it's performance is very satisfying--very steady!! I have been using it regularly for over 2 months with frequent travels, and had no problem with it. Switching from PC to Mac takes some time to adjust. Some softwares I use are for PC, and buying new ones for Mac is a huge expense. The Macbook comes with Leopard which also includes bootcamp, but I haven't tried installing Windows yet.

Strengths: Fast, portable, ease of use

Weaknesses: Price, color white not the smartest

Summary: I bought my macbook in October 2007 when I was moving and my pc decided to quit on me. The clerk at the store mentioned a mac as a replacement and I was familiar with apple having used a mac in college in the 90's, but hadn't used one since then. All of my workplaces had used pc and by default, when I bought computers, I bought pcs. However, after testing the macbook in the store and seeing all the great features, I up and bought it. I originally wanted the black one, but they were out of black ones so I bought the white one.Can you say, "It made me a mac convert!" Ease of use was the winner. I just opened it and started using the internet and other features merely by playing with them. If I wanted/needed more information, I just went to apple's page and clicked on one of the tutorials or on one of the informative links. Really easy! It helps that the computer only comes with programs you're actually going to use and not all that nonsense extras pcs come with. Therefore, the 1Gb of memory is sufficient for normal use that includes saving photos and music. When I got my wireless network online, it was really easy to simply add the laptop to it and I can work on it any where in the apartment, if I'm not in my office on my iMac. Also, I can get files from my iMac through the wireless capability sharing instead of copying everything from the iMac or vice versa.I haven't gotten around to messing with all the features yet, but I eventually will when I have some free time to spare, but there's so much that you can do with the macbook. It essentially, can replace a desktop if need be. However, I use mine for its portability to school and save my iMac to be the real workhorse. I've encountered no problems or glitches with my macbook and have no complaints. It is a little pricier, but it'll be the only laptop you'll have to buy for at least 10 years so it pays for itself. I probably won't keep mine that long since I like the "newest" gadget and already have my eye on the "air book". I will make one note of discontent....with all the technology apple has, you would think they could come up with a) either a better color for the keys or b) a material that doesn't dirty like the white material on the macbook. It takes too much energy and effort to keep the keys and hand rest clean if you're a neat freak like me. Come on apple!

Strengths: this macbook contains 2.2GHz core 2 duo and 1GB DDR2, it's so powerful that you can deal with many thing at the same time.It rarely delay. 120GB is big enough to store many data.

Weaknesses: It's a little heavy to me(5 lbs). And not cheap actually. Macbook only has two USB port, I need more.Video chipset is X3100, I think it's could be better.

Summary: Boot Camp system inside MS system allow me to install windows system, It's convenient. I can use Parellels software to run windows system in MS system. So, I have two system.I am a new user in MS system, I found it's more interesting than windows.MS system has more function.I can use Isight to talk with friends(build-in webcam and microphone),Ican burn DVD(build-in).When I watch movie, I can use remote control. If I don't satisfy with 1GB memory, I could upgrade to 4GB, It's very good to me. But, when I transfer video output to VGA or DVI, I have to buy another mini DVI connector, that's not cheap.Another problem is, It's doesn't work in Windows system, just work in MS system, That's strange.Over all, Macbook is worthy.I recommended my brother to buy macbook, and he did.he said macbook is really beautiful and functional.

Strengths: Dual core processor, Leopard pre-installed, DVD burner

Weaknesses: a little heavy, trackpad and "mouse" button, keyboard

Summary: I bought this computer to replace a 12" powerbook that I had damaged. I was pleased to see that Apple's current line of "consumer" laptops is so well spec'ed, so I saved some money and chose this over their current pro line. The dual core processor has handled everything I have thrown at it to include iMovie and photoshop, even with only the stock 1 GB of RAM. Moving to this computer from the Powerbook took some getting used to. While I liked the bright, glossy screen, and the other upgrades such as the built-in iSight, DVD-DL burner, 802.11n, and improved battery life, it is a little heavier and a little bit longer, but the performance increase more than makes up for it.Another benefit of this computer is that it can run Windows natively and setting this up in Leopard is easier than ever. In other words, no matter what software you need to run, you can do it on this computer. The only thing I don't really like is the keyboard and the trackpad. All three feel just a little cheaper than what I had with the Powerbook.Overall, I would quickly recommend this computer to anyone.

Strengths: I was interested in this laptop for presentations using Keynote. The software that comes with the Macbook work well with iWork '08 (it came with iLife '08). An excellent notebook!

Weaknesses: None so far.

Summary: This laptop will work well with a digital projector. I'm sure I will get a lot of good with this Macbook. I had the laptop configured with Parallels 3.0 and Microsoft XP so I could run PC software, as well. That combination has worked very well.

Strengths: New Santa Rosa processor, Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard pre-installed, easy setup

Weaknesses: Keyboard takes getting used to, glossy screen can be annoying

Summary: The first thing you'll notice when booting up Apple's new MacBook is how easy it is to get started. Their setup assistant launches immediately and walks you through setting up a user account, connecting to the internet and transferring files from another (Mac) computer. And it does so quickly. The whole process (if you don't transfer files over) takes about 5 minutes, after which you're ready to go. So the specs: the new Santa Rosa processor has only been bumped up to 2.2 GHz (from 2.16), but it does officially raises the system RAM limit to 4 GB (from 2 GB). I'm not sure how well it runs with the stock 1 GB of RAM (I upgraded to 4 immediately), but it should suffice for basic use (web browsing, e-mail, running the included iLife suite). As far as upgrading RAM goes, it's very easy (about 5 minutes of work), but since both RAM slots are used in the stock configuration, you'll have to replace both modules to keep the dual channel speed benefits. The hard drive is 120 GB, which is plenty for my needs, but should you need more, the hard drive bay is easily accessible for upgrades. Okay, so how does it run? Quite well, actually. Apple's just-released OS X 10.5 (Leopard) is pre-installed, so there's no need to worry about upgrading the OS. No problems with the OS so far. The machine is quiet, and it's been running coolly. The ILife applications (iPhone, iMovie, etc.) open quickly and run flawlessly. Now the downsides: The keyboard features chiclet-like keys (which are oddly reminiscent of IBM's failed PCjr keyboards from the mid-'80s); it's not a deal-killer, but they certainly do take some getting used to. The display has a glossy coating which makes images and video more vibrant and saturated, but also picks up a lot of glare. It's usually not a problem indoors, but it can make it hard to view outside. Overall, though, this is a great computer for the price. It performs well and looks great. Whether you're a "switcher" or a Mac devotee, you can't go wrong with this one. (Caveat emptor for anyone considering the black version of this MacBook: Taste is subjective, so I won't go into the aesthetics of one versus the other, but the white version costs $200 less than the black and only sacrifices an 40 GB of hard drive space. Otherwise, the two computers are identical.)
