Strengths: Fast data transfer, quiet, very portable.

Weaknesses: A minor complaint: upon initial hookup the software doesn't describe what it's doing, so one doesn't know if it's ready to use or just stuck somewhere.

Summary: I use this device as a second backup to another external desk top hard drive, and since doing so have stopped using DVDs as the second backup. I carry it with me, as it is eminently portable. The passport software is available as a download after registering the device on line.

Strengths: energy efficient, reliable

Weaknesses: slower than 7200 drive

Summary: I'm happy with this drive. Requires little energy and runs cool. Doesn't bog down with large file transfers. Haven't had any problems playing a/v files from it. Since the operationinstructions are on the Passport 250 the computer instantly recognizes it when attached. A real delight to use between laptop and desktop.

Strengths: Very large, light-weighted and fast

Weaknesses: The surface is too sleek

Summary: Used it for about 3 month, very light, fast and reliable. The wire is kind of short. The surface is too sleek to be protected (may be get a case for it?). Overall very good.

Strengths: Slim and handy, looks elegant, capacity is great for this price.

Weaknesses: Easily gets scratched

Summary: Just got this 1 week back. got impressed with its performance, looks, portability. This is great for the price i paid. I would definitely recommend this one to others.. I was about to buy 160GB but was changed on seeing this 250GB for this price with great look and portability. U can believe this one and take it home... :)

Strengths: look good, small, none expensive

Weaknesses: usu is too short, I got just 232 GB instead of 250 GB

Summary: 232 GB is acceptable for it's price but if I purchase 250 GB I suppose to get 250 GB or very close. but, This is 18 GB lost. that is too bad

Strengths: Very portable, thin, sleek & quiet operation!!!

Weaknesses: None.

Summary: This is a very good external hard drive. Much better than the 160GB external HD. This drive has a cover, for the USB port, that you could use once you disconnect it from your computer. I'm very happy with this external HD. It comes with a very short USB cable though. You might need to buy an extra USB cable if you want to connect this to your desktop.

Strengths: Ultra thin and compact, allowing portability. Very big hard drive space, you'll be able to store music, photos, movies and more!

Weaknesses: Short USB cable but can be resolved by using a USB extension cable.

Summary: Despite the short USB cable its really meant for laptops, the length of the cable is negligible for laptops. The design is very slick and stylish, it makes a perfect external hard drive.

Strengths: great price, easy to use and fast, smaller and lighter than my seagate 2.5" drive

Weaknesses: USB cable is short, but it's acceptable, and it can be replaced by longer one.

Summary: Only use for a short time, don't know how good it can be lasted! It's better to have a case to protect it, now I need to get a case to carry it.

Strengths: amazingly small and easy to use- a ton of memory in a very small package!

Weaknesses: Moderately fast transfer speeds

Summary: transfer speeds are not as high as ones with external power sources that support higher disc rotation speeds. But that small difference is well worth it to have such a small and portable hard drive.

Strengths: Smaller, lighter, mean black case

Weaknesses: Not faster, very bright (blue) indicator lamp

Summary: I've been using a 60GB Passport for a little over a year as a backup and transport drive. I seem to be adding about 3GB a month and rapidly outgrew the capacity. Hopefully this one will keep me going until the cost of BlueRay comes down. It's smaller shirt pocket size is really great and the encryption software makes it safe from hackers, but I don't think the real pros will have a problem with it.

Strengths: small and large size

Weaknesses: none

Summary: I bought this from staples. it is very elegant when I first opened it. compact, large capacity. but only 2 years of warranty. no ac adapter needed. I use it mainly to keep the pictures when I am travelling. personally, I have another passport as backup in case one dies.

Strengths: -huge capacity, useful for portable video editing and photos-super light; lighter than my PDA-actually pocket sized (fits in my coat and suit pocket)-very sleek, even sexy-useful sync software

Weaknesses: -the shiny plastic cover seems a bit flimsy and easily gets fingerprints on it, even from relatively clean hands-there is a soft audible hum, which may be irritating in a very quiet room

Summary: This is an amazing piece of portable hardware. It is tiny and light for its harddrive capacity, sleek, and relatively quiet (though does have a slight hum, which may annoy some). The WD Sync (based on the Dmailer) software is actually very useful for traveling. It encrypts and password protects access to the files on your drive. It will also alert others to return the device to you if it's found. It allows you to sync your own computer's hardrive to the device, then take it to another computer to run Outlook and access files. It has a pseudo-Outlook interface, so you can sync your email to the Passport, take the Passport to even a public computer at an internet cafe, and access your synced emails through the software. Because it is password protected and encrypted, theoretically the content of your files are not left on the public computer (though titles of files may be left in Word, etc.). This seems to be true in my short experience with the device. The sync software allows you to use the drive at internet cafes when you need much more capacity than a flash drive, for example, to deal with travel photos, videos, etc. For part of my work, I do video editing in rural Africa. I carry all my camera and digital equipment in a backpack, so portability and lightness is extremely important. I really need a ton of hard drive space to work with the video files, so the 250 GB capacity in a tiny, light drive is a huge asset to me.

Strengths: Small, portable, light. Does not need power cord.

Weaknesses: None. If there was a bigger storage for that size, I would get that as well.

Summary: Great for laptops and transfering files from PC to PC. Light weight and great for traveling. I recently bought a HP laptop with only 160GB of storage. With this new addition, I can port music, games, and photos everywhere I go. Love it.

Strengths: SMALL IN SIZE, EASY TO CARRY, LIGHT IN WEIGHT, AND EASY FOR STORAGE

Weaknesses: The USB outlet cover could be pulled out very easy. No case come with it.

Summary: There is no case come with the hard drive. I expect the hard drive is black color, but, when I received, it is white color. Anyway, it is not bad at all.
